Happy pride month to these two
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.

Ok Declan and Zhen are adorable...
Never going to get over the fact that I went into the Mission Impossible films expecting Ethan Hunt to be this macho man thatās peak āmade by men for menā and instead got absolutely slapped across the face by the fact that heās in fact not that⦠heās just this sad little guy who loves his friends a little too much and runs more than any one person should
SotR is a realisation. A realisation that the rebellion didnāt start with Katniss. That all the people we see supporting her or helping her have all been wanting to fight but theyāve been failing. That there werenāt merely ārumoursā of a revolution but there were many active plans playing out and failing.
Itās a reminder that the perfect Hunger Games we saw in the first hg book was an illusion because we had Katniss as our narrator. We didnāt have Haymitch, hell, we didnāt even have someone like Peeta because these people played the games. Katniss didnāt.
Katniss was introduced to us as a mad, simple, naive girl who literally only survived because of others. She didnāt know how much her taking Primās place mattered because she didnāt realise what it meant to everyone who came before her. To everyone who had heard rumours of how the last District 12 victor actually fought his games. No, Katniss had just kept her head down, hunting and providing for her family.
See, she grew up way before the Games got to her. Sheād already lived through her dadās death and watched it destroy her once lively mom. Haymitch didnāt have to go through that. Lucy Gray didnāt have to go through that. They were both angry, yes, but at the Capitol. Katniss? She was first and foremost angry at her mom. At her dad. She knew who was to blame but she had too much to do and deal with to think about that. She was already jaded in a way that the Games couldnāt touch.
Peeta? He was Haymitch. He knew what he was getting into and realised he was just on a chess board with no control. So, he adapted. He played the knight, the rook, the king, the pawn. Katniss? She just⦠did. Changing directions, not playing the piece she was assigned because she didnāt realise thatās what was going on. Remember her surprise at the crown twisting into two after the Games?? She was so oblivious. Until Catching Fire where everything caught up to her. Where everything so many other people had been waiting and working for caught up to her.
SotR is a history book. Rewritten and edited and published as a piece of fact. SotR is a mirror and itās a reflection of what actually happens vs what ends up being shown. SotR is the playbook of those in control of any and every kind of media that we come in touch with. SotR is a wake up call and I truly donāt know how many will see it as such.
maysilee donner really said if i have to fight to the death im gonna serve rupaul levels of cunt while doing so and i just think that's really cool of her
i know wyatt was at some point like "i'm probably autistic but i have the hunger games so idrc about that rn"
This is funny how the "rebellion" of Katniss at the end of 74th Hunger Games was only possible because of Capitol's simple, stupid mistakes. Like, they have a 5 minutes delay to cut or change enything if needed, but then, because of their mistakes, they couldn't cut or change anything to make this not go/look this way.
Propaganda is powerful but you can always break it.

Usually, I don't care much if an actor is casted for a character that is described differently in the og media.
However, Lou Lou and Louellas doesn't make any sense because of what their stories are supposed to represent allegory wise (for modern and historic happenings); they represent that much of the racist upper class sees no difference between two different girls with dark skin and who are minorities.
Casting white actors for this is a change that makes zero sense for that purpose. It takes away what it's supposed to represent as a whole, making it completely void. (Yeah, D11 probably has plenty of light skinned citizens, but from what we know, Panem is somewhat segregated in certain areas, and D11 is one of them and this isn't the time to change appearances)
I will say, sure, it could now be the message that the Capitol can't tell the difference between two kids from separate districts (i.e. two poor kids in general), but that hits a little less imo.
The racist stereotype of "minorities all looking the same" is likely something that many people can relate to being a victim of, but this robs them of that commentary and representation of something so harmful. It's a huge misstep on the casting directors part.
I don't doubt these actors are fantastic and talented, I know they will do their best, and they should only be supported. But you can't tell me there weren't darker skinned young actors who could play their parts just as accurately and do the character justice?
Lou Lou and Louella are characters where their skin color does relate to the story and have bearing upon it. You could change plenty of other characters' physical appearances and get away with it (such as Sejanus being quite different, but the actor was so perfect it didn't matter), but not these characters.
Not characters where their skin color is a very important part of their story.
