With Bransan finishing the first draft of the Mistborn screenplay, I'm rudely reminded that this thing is actually happening, like for real this time(??!!) and I'm so excited and also super nervous! What if it's not good!! I'd cry if it's a disappointment ngl
#I'm so nervous about it#I think I can't NOT watch it but.... what if I don't like it :'(#They can't cut most of Marsh's scenes I don't think!!#he needs the bronze scene with Vin bc she tells him about the earring and how her mother killed her sister with it#and its too important he knows that#and they can't cut the meeting scenes when he's in the ministry bc one of those is the catalyst for a) inquisitor Marsh AND#b) kelsier destroying the pits of hathsin#so they'll need the other scenes to set up that he's going into the ministry so I think its ok#...i have been thinking about this#I agree it would be great if it was arcane style animated!!#the allomancy jumps would look so great#and I think you could get mistcloaks to work better#plus the mistwraiths without making them look too horrific#(...and thats without touching on the koloss)
I think I heard somewhere that BranSan won't explain/mention seeking and copperclouds in the first movie or something to keep the number of powers down that need to be explained to the audience, so that got me a little worried, the bronze scene might be cut.
But with other scenes you're right, I do think they would need to include them, and they're really short in the first place so it would be hard to cut down from that! If they show expanded scenes of him infiltrating the Ministry that would be so cool, but probably won't happen with all the other characters they need to pay attention to..
But yes my greatest hope was an arcane animated style movie or series for Mistborn, it would have been amazing, but I understand that BranSan probably wants a larger audience to tune into the adaptation and sadly general audiences aren't that interested in animated projects/it's hard to market animated movies for an older audience :' )
What? Nooo! Bronze and copper are so important in the Final Empire! Thats how the Skaa allomancers stay hidden! Also the Soothing stations? Surely he isn't going to cut those!
Inquisitors piercing Vin's coppercloud to find her after her and Kelsier attack Kredik Shaw is a whole thing! And then she does it to find Shan and finding out that's 'impossible' is the first hints of Hemalurgy.
And Marsh has to hear the earring story!! Actually, so does the audience before anything's known about hemalurgy because otherwise the earring reveal will become more obvious.
Besides, then it'll have to be introduced in the WoA movie and that's crazy because WoA is a longer book than TFE. And you can't leave off bronze because that's how she hears the mistspirit and the Well!
It turns out I have strong feelings about this, who'd have thought?
Yeah, I'd also love to see scenes of Marsh in the ministry but TFE is already a long book and I don't think it'll be possible.
I think I heard somewhere (maybe a weekly update at some point?) that the animated show would be even more expensive than the live action and that's why stormlight isn't animated. I still stand by that it would be so much better for both. Oh well. I want to see what the live action Inquisitors look like anyways (I just don't want to see live action koloss though, really.).
Exactly, I am concerned about this change, it will be strange without them explaining copperclouds and seeking but maybe BranSan will change his mind about that, who knows! it's still the first draft after all!
Ahh I see, so it's more of a budget question than anything else..if only the team had infinite money to spend on a gorgeous animation, but oh well! It's not all downsides for live action, like you said ^ ^ I'm sure inquisitors will be fucking terrifying, and the koloss..will be horrific
