Runaway || Hugh & Brawly
Old— and he had yet to get through his twenties. He heaved a world-weary sigh, almost knocking his Riolu off balance by the droop of his shoulders— but then the sudden sound of a slap jerked him right back to attention, effectively causing his Riolu roll from her place on his shoulder blade and into his arms. She was less than pleased.
"…Can you learn double-slap, too?" He whispered to her, hoisting her back up to his shoulder, a fearful glint in his eye. "That’s one way to make a kid listen, huh?"
Brawly extended his hand gratefully and grinned at the guy, “Stew, huh? I’ll see if I can manage that—” Judging by the sharp look the princess of the group tossed him as she reached over and snatched a couple of berries from his palm, he understood she’d rather they not get wasted. The nodding Makuhita seemed to be in agreement with her.
"Guys…" But his attention swung back to berry-boy. "Brody?!" Well, it seemed as though he wasn’t the only one that was bad with names. "Nah, my name’s Brawly, little bruh! But I know yours!" He snapped his fingers.
"Humphrey!"
Hugh chuckled as the Brody-man talked to his riolu, but immediately stopped as he heard 'make a kid listen.' He stared at the man with a slight glint of anger in his eyes. "Yeah, sure."
He tugged at his jacket pockets, putting his hands in. He kept his glare at the other man and tried to intimidate him, even though he was trying to be nice. Riolu tapped its paws on his chest, making small noises happily.
"W-wait, your name is Brawly?" He asked, shocked. "What a weird name. And you're kinda weird. Why do you always say 'Bro' or 'Brah?'"
Hugh let out a laugh. "It sounds like you're some weird body builder or something. I have a normal name- a cool one. It's Hugh, not something dumb like Humphrey."
