It had been such a dreary day outside, the rain and darkened clouds casting a gloomy grayness over Nocturne Town. It had started late in the evening the day before, the sounds of the rain hitting her roof soothing Lenora to sleep. She was thankful it was just a rainstorm; thunder and lightning made her anxious and kept her up all night.
She had decided it wasn't worth opening the shop today, though. She couldn't show any livestock to potential customers, and she doubted anyone would be making deliveries in this weather. This fact, unfortunately, left her sitting at home, waiting for the rain to pass. And it didn't seem like it was going to be letting up any time soon.
She did, however, still need to do her daily chores. Rain or shine or sleet or snow, the Pokémon had to be fed. She made her rounds in the barn, filling the feed and water troughs, brushing the Mareep, milking the Miltank, and feeding treats to the Ponyta. It was always a process, her morning routine, but she always enjoyed it. Interacting with her livestock was one of the biggest joys in her day, no matter how much she didn't want to do the work.
She had been working on collecting all of the eggs from her Torchic coop, reaching under the tiny fire birds and placing their eggs into the cushioned basket hooked around her arm, when it dawned on her that, with the shop closed, most of the eggs would go bad. Frowning, she righted herself and paused for a moment. She couldn't just let the eggs go to waste, that'd be counter productive.. Her gaze moved to her basket as she quickly counted its contents. "Just over a dozen.. I guess it'd be a nice gift to someone."
Exiting the coop, she dashed inside, setting the basket gently down on the large island as she practically danced about, opening drawers and cabinets as she went. She pulled out her scissors, some tape, and a few spools of ribbon, setting them on the counter before moving to the storage closet across the hall. She gave gifts to the people of Nocturne Town from time to time, so she'd managed to collect quite the hoard of decorative boxes and gift-making supplies. Deciding on a small lidded box, she returned to the kitchen and placed the Torchic eggs inside, laying them neatly onto the soft fabric she'd lined it with. With professional haste, she fashioned a bow that tied itself around the box, sealing it shut.
Now came the matter of figuring out who to give it to. She knew that, like herself, many of the townspeople would have shut down for the day. Granted, that didn't mean she couldn't show up unexpectedly and just drop off the gift, but she kind of wanted to do some shopping as well.. "Guess I'll just visit the first person who's open!"
It took her all of ten minutes to get into town, her umbrella shielding her from the raindrops as she walked along the side of the road. For some reason, she wasn't surprised when she saw the tailor's lights on -- that man always seemed to working. She'd been in need of a new headscarf, as well, since Solagne, her Rapidash, had found it funny to steal one of her favourites from her hair the other week.
Closing her umbrella outside the door, she folded it beneath her arm and stepped inside, a soft jingle catching her ears as she closed the door behind her. "'Ello!" she called, grinning at the man standing near a display. "Hope you don't mind my stoppin' by."
