How does media shape our perception of sex?
In a commercialised society, we constantly have advertisements thrown into our view. Each of these advertisements seek to sell their product or service often through the use of what is considered “sexual”. My project brings together some of the classic advertisements that we see and twist them into an artwork that changes through various perceptions.
Layed over the distorted sounds of the media are some innocent noises such as moisturiser and car washing that are twisted.
By doing this, the underlying theme of sex and SEX SELLS is evident. Placing devices playing the video and sounds in various lockers triggers the curiosity of viewers who then peek into the cracks and opening of the lockers to find the source of the nosie.
Advertisements that were originally thrown into the faces of viewers are now works of art that viewers actively seek to see. Their perception of these advertisements have now been transformed as they are able to go deeping into the layers of the themes these advertisements raise.
