Steven Universe Connie Fan Art
Hey! Thanks for reblogging my Steven Universe gif. Here's another one that I forgot to tag with 'spine'. http://ninjamonkeybrain.tumblr.com/post/129030320986 I rigged and animated the character in spine. I then exported a png sequence and brought that into after effects for the glow and particles. I want to put together a tutorial on it at some point if I get the time. Thanks and good luck!
Glow Remake
After finding a favorable review to our old game called Glow on the RPGMaker forums so me and my friend’s were motivated to rework the project. This is technically our third remake of the game so far.
Character Revamp
Below are some new sketches of the improved design.
We decided to redo the character designs based on the original. Our first iteration of the game was completed in a month which didn’t give us much time to create polished assets. Not to mention it was my very first game sprite project.
Ver 1. - trad animated in flash
Ver2. - first foray into spine software 3 years ago
Current redesign - spine attempt #2 yay
Rigging and Spine
I haven’t used spine in forever so I’m attempting to relearn the program along with all the new features. It’s very exciting. Figuring out the rigging in is going to be hard trial and error since it’s not a humanoid character. I wanted to experiment with IK’s for the tentacles and a squash and stretch rig I saw by nyenna.
Some progress after about a week of fiddling around. I didn’t expect the learning curve with reorienting myself with the program to be this high. But at least I got it down more or less. Need to figure how to stretch them out or if maybe i can use a better system for the tentacles.
1) Need to play around with the skin weights more
2) Create a controller for the head rig
Got to make it worrrrrk IK + path
1) IK handles seem a bit too restrictive, will see if i can make it flow better?
2) Figure out how to make it stretch?? (Did I miss a step?)
3) try a different rig with just turning off inherit rotation
I still need to add more bones and fix the meshes on the images but in general it seems ok. The only problem I have is we’re going to be developing this new game on Game Maker which has an older runtime for Spine atm. Hope it works out. Need to animate this.
Get a very old sketch idea. something I thing in do using Illustrator and learn more about vector, early 2016. never finish it. and this days I got it back on photoshop and just paint. how now I use a lot of selection keeping each part in a different layer, I took it to Spine to animate. =D
ps. Fuck vectors..
