I started going grey pretty young. And for 20 years I coloured my hair hoping to hide it. It is exhausting. And suddenly, along comes this trend where silver hair is trendy. Like 20 year olds are doing it. đŻ Would a better opportunity come along? No.
So I did it! And now, I will never have to dye my hair again. No more harsh chemicals, no more bleaching, no more treating the skunk stripe and hoping it will blend with the previous colour which you never saved the box from and has faded so much anyway. I just have to tone it every 8ish weeks and let my grey continue to grow out.
I was terrified. Scared to death of looking like an old lady or looking like an old lady trying to look young. And I don't feel like either.
This may be the first time that I can remember, leaving the salon and not being unhappy.

I recommended The Society and Dead to Me earlier. Both on Netflix. Sex Education is another good one on Netflix. The Handmaidâs Tale, Big Little Lies. I canât think of anything else right now but I need something to move on to đŠ

Highly recommend Bosch on Amazon. Great detective drama.
I agree cast/crew/production wouldnât be such condescending gasslighters if this were a mostly male fandom. But Iâd also bet my big toe all the games and idiotic narratives wouldnât be played in a male fandom either.
You know, I read someone voice that same opinion and I had never considered it until then but I believe itâs absolutely true. They think we are just a bunch of gullible horny grannies they can manipulate just because we are women.
I just wish I knew their thought process. Like, what did they say to themselves when fans were being bullied to make it OK not to intervene? What did they say to themselves when they called fans delusionals for believing the story they âsoldâ to make it OK with their value system? What did they say to themselves when they ignored valid and respectfully shared concerns about the direction of s4 from fans (and critics alike) to make it OK?
And then I look at myself in the mirror and ask what do I say to myself to make their behavior OK so that I keep fanning guilt-free? Things that I used to say to myself were: âthey were forced to do itâ, âwhat could they have done against an industry mogul like Shatner?â, âmaybe they tried for things to be different in s4 but they had no powerâ⌠but not anymore. I guess if one thing I have learned from all this is that they are truly humans and I donât like the kind of humans they are most of the time.
I say all this with sadness because I truly thought there was something special about them but I cannot sit here and say all is fine when I know that is not the case. My love for the show is completely gone. They have even tarnished my love for Scotland (I had a trip planned that I wonât be doing anymore, at least in the near future, because it has been tainted by association). I have become cynical as to how genuine they are because of the way they have treated their fans (skipping cons, passive aggressiveness, blocking, reaction to tuna gate, trollingâŚ)
I envy those of you who lived through the golden years when they were very different. Those times are gone, just like the Outlander we loved.
Moving on is hard because there is a part of me that is nostalgic about how I used to feel about them but moving on is the healthiest thing we can do for ourselves in this fandom.
Life is short, sometimes too short (like I have been painfully reminded of recently) and I want to do things that bring me joy and lift me up.
We deserve so much better than this. Itâs time we start believing it!
(For the record, I still think they are together and they work together (now just vacationing together) and that things are fine with them)

@loveisloveislove76 @jamesandclairefraser If you want a kind, inclusive, intelligent fandom, go over to the âA Discovery of Witches/All Souls Trilogyâ people. I loved the books and the spin off âTimes Convertâ and am a big fan of the TV series. The cast truly seems to like one another, are funny, post selfies, seem excited to be part of the show. It was like Outlander S1 but I think the positive buzz will remain. I havenât seen much shipping between the leads as both are married with a lot of kids on both sides. And, even though theyâre great friends, thereâs a lot of personal chemistry with one another which makes the show work. I used to be an avid Outlander fan but now I am a fairly disinterested bystander watching the dumpster fire which is the Outlander fandom. Talk about turning diamonds into coal instead of the other way around. Best wishes for finding a better fandom to be a part of.
So now there's a video of the fishing trip. Haven't seen it, but some are saying it's very explicit in the killing of the fish. Is he gonna get blow back for this from Peta or fans who feel this is inappropriate for a vegan being a bystander?
I know if I signed up for a fishing charter, I would assume they are just going to fish the typical way. Itâs very possible he didnât know their process. He was standing as far away from what they were doing as possible on the boat, with their backs to him. (In fact, I said to friends that the way he was hanging on to the top of the boat, I wondered if he had Jamie-style seasickness.) The only thing I heard him say was Wow at the very end of the clip. His arms are up but heâs not doing it like Yay!, heâs gripping on to the top of the boat like he is in other pictures.Â
Itâs not a good look for the other men, thatâs for sure. Do I wish Sam was not there, sure. Itâs one of those things that could make a little noise. But I donât think lesser of him because of it. He did not participate.
And PETA is a terrible organization masquearing as an animal-rights group, IMO.
PETA is a misguided organization as it is against sheep shearing, preferring to have sheep who have been bred to be sheared to suffer from fly-strike and be eaten alive by maggots. As a spinner and knitter, these folks should research their positions before they go out and convince people, who have no knowledge of the subject, to boycott wool.  Most of the shepherds Iâve come in contact at sheep and wool festivals over the past 15 years love their animals and are very protective of them. Â

Totally agree with your comment. If Caitriona can't understand how a 50 year old woman would be and can't relate to the character at that stage of her life then recast the production.
For a recast to work it would need to be a recast of both leads because it ainât going to work if he stays but she is gone or the other way around.
I have loved them both as Jamie and Claire but I love Jamie and Claire more than I love Sam and Cait, I don´t know if it makes sense. So at this point, I would be open to the possibility of a clean start if that means we will get people committed to the characters and unafraid to show what love and intimacy looks like when you are 50.
Sam has not been as vocal about it (although he has also been selling the party line of âdomestic bliss Frasersâ and he even said at one point their sex was still sexy) but Cait has now mentioned in many interviews that she has struggled reconciling who she thought Claire was up to that point to who Claire is now, that she has struggled connecting with this Claire and then the bs line about how much of her body she is willing to put out there for people to gif ( it was never about the nudity, Cait, but you do you). So, maybe the Crown is right with their recasting the main characters as they age.Â
Thing is Starz know full well it wouldnât work and they wanna milk that cow until there is not one single drop left.Â
Rant begins. I think that the Claire in the books doesnât âmatureâ that much emotionally or physically, and particularly when it comes to Jamie. Before the print shop scene in the book, she follows a woman with children in tow into an apothecary shop and figures out that the woman is in her low 20âs and looks like 50 whereas Claire is decades older and looks like a younger woman. This validates that Jamie will still find her desireable and sheâs ready to take up where they left off.
I just didnât find much difference in the books after she came back. She is still opinionated, doesnât always listen about dangers, doesnât care much except about her family and her healing. I donât understand why Cait thinks she has to change that much, particularly in DOA or TFC. I always felt Claireâs love for Jamie was just as strong and I think a mistake the series made was to show her having doubts about coming back. I donât think she ever did. And I certainly never her saw her take Breeâs side against Jamie in any of the books, even after the Roger Fiasco. (and donât get me started on how they made Roger into a more despicable character than the Hillsboro folks).
I think Cait is overthinking this for TFC. I agree with comments that a 50 year old isnât that much different than a 40 year old. I think the only difference is as you get a lot older you get calmer and donât take minor slights, disappoints, etc. to heart as much. However, family problems can accelerate in importance. Iâve been there, done that and its not so hard. I also think Claire being a time traveler keeps her physically younger and stronger and more immune to the accelerated aging living in the 18th century does to a person, particularly women. However, Claire is played in the series as an old 50 whereas Jamie looks like heâs in his 30âs. I never saw her in my mind as a dour scold.
I think the writers/producers/editors has forgotten what makes the story obsessable. They should go back and read the series and find that thread that speaks to 25 million readers and not jettison the heart of the story in favor of their agenda. They have ruined the relationship between Jamie and Claire and even made Bree and Rogers unwatchable and unrelatable when that was not true in the book. Roger, who has his moments in the books was a much more sympathetic character than the show and there is absolutely no basis for Bree being so infatuated with the Roger displayed in the series. DOA has perhaps 1% moments of the old brilliance, but 99% dreck. The writers/producers/editors should get their heads out of the slops bucket and figure out a way to get back to heart of the story.

@diggsydogsqueeâ  Totally agree with your comment. Begin Rant: She's tearing herself down in front of all the people in HW she needs to impress, and taking full credit for the failure of the portrayal of Claire.  Career-limiting move IMO, and doesn't place most of the blame where it really belongs on the writing, directing, editing and producing.  I think something magical happened in S1 with Sam and the production that made her a better actress than she really was. Her instinctive approach translated wonderful to the screen. If she doesnât have the material and the right acting partner(s) she probably takes an overly intellectual approach to a roles and ends up leading with her head, not her heart.  I hope Iâm wrong but she was very flat in Money Monster and who knows with FvF? WRT Outlander, I think sheâs lost the spark and maybe itâs due to all the chaos, angst and games theyâre playing outside of the production. Combine that with the poor writing and reduced role this season and we get a distracted, cold, unconnected, unrecognizable Claire who is the antithesis of Book Claire. Makes me mad that they have destroyed something that brought me and so many fans joy. End Rant.
