A while ago (months and months and months ago), I more or less did a complete overhaul of The Isles and the world - primarily the world and how exactly it looks because I honestly hated what I had prior. So that's what I'm here to talk about this fine evening
To start us off, it's no longer a single island and instead something more or less like an archipelago - I wasn't too fond of the idea of everything existing on a single island, so I spread it out - different environments got their own islands (more or less), so your desert no longer sat next to snowy mountains. Was good too, gave me room to give each place their own mini-kingdoms and places within each one and more room to just spread things out. Of course this did get rid of the fact the main part of the sea kingdom was in the centre of it all (Which I DID like actually), but oh well. There's still a nice spot vaguely in the centre it can go.
Now, this means the Land Kingdom is bloody massive now - and this was technically part of the og stuff but - so there's a bit of a hierarchy here and I do ask you to excuse the ms paint visuals
So. If you can't actually figure out what you're looking at here (and I can't say I blame you), at the top we have Sapphire, she obviously acts as the big boss lady of the whole kingdom itself, and under her are people, nobles, who watch over the individual islands themselves; reporting back to Sapph frequently, and then under THEM are those who are like mayors/overseers of the smaller places, towns and the likes - most islands will have a sort of main location and smaller towns and villages affiliated with the kingdom - though not all are.
This goes for the Sea kingdom also, Orca is the big boss, he has people under him and then there are people under his people. The Sky kingdom actually runs a bit differently; it's small enough that Ryan can run it himself - though he has people who watch over the districts (agriculture, residential districts, ect, ect.)
I have not yet had the chance to completely flesh out the islands and what they are like - save for like one of them - and I haven't even begun to think about the sea and sky kingdoms. Though I have ideas on what they'd look like.
The only island I've actually had the chance to flesh out a bit is my desert island - one I oh so smartly named Serpents Desert
Serpents desert is home to the following:
The largest mine in the Isles
A fruit that looks like a rock
The fact it is more or less unaffected by the weather patterns the rest of the Isles experience
So uh. Breaking that down.
The cult I need to work on more, but it is stationed is a dead forest (called Azrails Forest by those in said cult, due to the nature of said forest.) and is centred around Azrail himself. Those within the cult believe worshipping him will prove fruitful after death, that Azrail will provide them with some form of special treatment because they worshipped him. It wont.
The exact origins of it are unknown and those living on SD try to avoid the forest as much as they can - the people who live there aren't exactly inviting to those trying to oppose them. It is known that there have been people who step into the forest who are never seen again; whether they are killed or simply join the cult, nothing is confirmed. There have been past attempts to reason with the cult, even to wipe the cult out, but those within it are very stubborn people - not even Sapphire has been able to get rid of them. So those on SD merely work around it, try to ignore it as much they can. Which is inconvenient for travelling due to the forests location.
The mine on SD is the largest mine on the Isles - having no access to other resources, they needed something to trade and resorted to the natural resources in the ground. It's located in a place referred to as Sandy Mountains - which is really just massive sand dunes - and also serves as the main location on the island.
It is the most technologically advanced place within the Isles, not by a huge margin but more than the other kingdoms. This happened because of their involvement with the mining industry - their work led to advancements the rest of the Isles simply have not made yet.
Due to their location (near the edge of the Island), they work closely with a nearby sea settlement, trading materials for food like fish and other such things. They also work closely with the smaller settlement on the island (known as sanctuary) for things like clean drinking water. Though both are affiliated with the land kingdom and would have to work closely with one another regardless.
Ahh, rock fruit. I have briefly spoken about it here once before so I won't dwell too long. It's name is rather literal - the outside appears to be a rock (about the size of a pumpkin) but cracking it open like a coconut reveals it to be a much sweeter, tastier core. It's the most common crop on SD, able to pop up just about anywhere on the island; but it is not usually the main source of food - it is only fruit after all.
Not much to say about this one - I find it rather self explanatory. SD is not affected by the same weather patterns as the rest of the isles, they do not see rain very often and it is often a good celebration when they do see it. The place is hot constantly, even if there are clouds in the way. It makes it a popular spot in the colder months. Most tourists will flock to Sanctuary for vacations, due to it's more inviting nature.
A popular tourist destination and the source of SM's clean drinking water. The area is much closer to water than what SM is, a river partially flowing into the place. It is also home to actual grass and dirt - so it serves as the source of crops. They'll grow anything that'll withstand constant heat.
it's also become known that it gets placed under raids a lot - Azrails followers looking to plunder what they can from the place. Those who live there and protect it have become well versed in the art of combat - once even having the privilege to work under Sapphire for a little bit,
But despite the attacks, it is very popular to visit it during colder months - the constant sun a reprieve from the rain and gloomy days. Though I can't say all those who live there appreciate it, but they've at least made some good money from overpriced goods.
That's uhm. Probably it for now, that's all I can shake out of my head at the moment. But I encourage you to ask me your burning questions, should you have them. I desperately need to get back into this.
