          “ No, it’s okay. I’m just trying to stay out of everyone’s way. “ He explained quietly. “ Are you okay? You were crying…? “

            “ ... Mmm. “ He was a good kid, and good adult. Marion knew that lying once would spiral out of control. He would just end up causing his ‘father’ more worry if he started lying. Especially since anyone could tell that he had been crying a lot.

            “ During the raid last night... Mother was killed. “ Marion explained quietly. “ I’ll be okay. Death isn’t new where I come from. It’s just a bit... of a shock, I guess. “

               Also, devastating. But ye know. What do words mean these days anyway?

             While Humra was crying all over everyone in the house, her boyfriend was trying to make himself useful. He didn’t want to tag along on any of her hugging adventures, since he knew he would just make it weird. Dimitri and Yuuto had both tried to kill Yoshiya had various points in the year, and Y made him faint. It just wouldn’t serve her mission to be dragging his unconscious and traumatized self around.

             Then, because the mun is lazy af, this became a starter for herself to use to drag Shi around the Kuroneko house.

             Alternatively, there was always the study. Usually occupied by Shugo, but today--- Marion! Marion had peeled himself away from Ayaka’s side in search of quiet. Of all the rooms in the house, Shugo’s study was most respected. Marion sat in the spinning chair, staring off into ‘space.’ He was tired from worrying about Ayaka, but even more drained from mourning his mother. 

          As Yoshiya let himself in, Marion flinched and sat up suddenly. First wiping his teary eyes desperately, then turning to be surprised.

          “ Yoshiya-san... “ He flinched. The smaller version of his father. The father he had never met, but knew his mother loved so much. Marion peeked behind Yoshiya to confirm Humra wasn’t there, then relaxed. He didn’t think that he could face his smaller mother right now. He had even been actively avoiding Mikale and Satou.

          “ ... Sorry. Do you need the office? I can leave. “

             Theta had first worried that they might not get permission to tag along. She knew that she had to go with them to the base, but the people she was going with were her parents… but in the end, her mother hand relented. Theta knew the base from having been there before. She specifically knew where to find the other Sacred Children being held captive. After teleporting the rest of her rescue team, that was exactly where she planned to go.

          “ This is as far as I can teleport us. The material they’ve reinforced this place with makes teleporting freely really hard. “ She explained softly to the other three. At her side were Chron, Daisuke, and Marion. She was mostly warning Marion, who was the only other one among them that she knew to teleport. “ There are guards everywhere and they have walkie-talkies, so let’s be careful. “

          “ Right. We’re not here to cause a scene… “ Daisuke agreed, his voice trailing off. Then, unable to help himself, he blurted, “ It’s really white here. “
