Just a heads up, I will be going inactive for quite a while because life has been very busy. I may occasionally appear to reblog a thing or two but otherwise I won't posting much.

For what it is worth, not all ADHD meds are the same. Even saying "ADHD meds" is an exercise in generalization, since it's a very broad category. Different medications have different uses, side effects, and interactions.(Obligatory I am not a doctor or a pharmacist, talk to real ones for more information)
Stimulants are probably the major category you think of when you think of ADHD meds. These can include amphetamines (Adderall, Vyvanse, and others), methamphetamine (Desoxyn), methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta, and others). Stimulants work by increasing Dopamine and Norepinephrine in the brain.
Non-stimulants include atomoxetine (Straterra), clonidine ER (Kapvay), and guanfacine ER (Intuniv). The first one works by making norepinephrine stay in your system longer, and the latter two are blood pressure medications that are approved for ADHD treatment. Also, many antidepressants can be used to treat ADHD and depression that comes from it.
I feel like many people on medication for ADHD don't know a lot about the medication they're taking, what its expected results are, what its side effects may be, etc. I heavily encourage anyone on ANY medication to not only read the insert paperwork you get with it, but also research online from trusted sources.
I'll end with these charts from Cleveland Clinic that show just how wide of a range there are for medications used to treat ADHD.

I think you should try Aleve instead
I’m going to be honest. I don’t think you should be a pharmacist or a doctor if you’re not comfortable dispensing medication and assisting people of every demographic. The medical field is one place where the right to refuse service gets people killed. If you’re not able to empathize and help people because of a personal bias against their race, sexuality, gender identity, disability status, religion etc., do not become a doctor. If your “personal beliefs” against birth control are so strong that you will refuse to dispense lifesaving medications like hormonal birth control or misoprostol or you’re so virulently transphobic that you refuse to dispense hormones and hormone blockers, you should not be a pharmacist.
If you have these beliefs that are so strongly against people’s bodies and identities, you should not work around vulnerable demographics. If you want a job where you have the right to pick and choose who you assist, go into gig work or something.

Hello tumblr i am starting a new semester soon, i have little energy and my back hurts, i may have bladder issues, and i have many payments due
I wish healthcare providers are more willing to acknowledge that most chronic medication will lead to physical dependence and that physical dependence is our body's normal adaptation process. I wish people didn't think of dependence as a morally bad thing to the point that people will worry more about the moral implications of dependence rather than the actual risk of debilitating withdrawal symptoms.
TW: meds, blood, needles/syringes, etc.!!
I don't own these!! they were found on various internet sources!! so no creds needed,, unless you recognize any of them as someone else's creation and they require creds, lmk!!
Like I think it's so sad that we live in a society where we pride ourselves so much on suffering that people will identify as addicts for thinking food tastes too good or for wanting to orgasm regularly. And no I am not saying that sex or eating patterns can't turn compulsive in unhealthy ways, but it is insane how we have pathologized joy to a point where literally everything that feels "too" good has to be viewed through a fear-mongering addiction framework even when it's a basic bodily function
