The Pink Church, a Lutheran church established in 1888..has the absolute best history!
Built to house a congregation of Swedish and Norwegians—but they were quarreling by the time it was completed and so when they both wanted to hold Sunday school masses it came to a head 😳..most of the Norwegian congregation left..and in the 1960’s it was moved from Climax mine to Leadville..it was then used by Baptist’s until they had a new church built..then it was sold and used as a dance school and painted pink. It’s quite a colorful history.

A lovely Catholic Church at city’s center ✝️
This is how I will always know the most spiritual and serene place I have encountered in all my travels; this cathedral in the middle of the bustling city ✝️💜prayers for Paris and for first responders as they save the Notre Dame 🙏🏼 #notredamedeparis #parisfrance #parisparis #notredameparis #beautifuldestinations #2012
Basilica du Sacré-Coeur Paris 🇫🇷 A most fascinating church that sits high on a hill in Montmartre..overlooking Paris. Magnifique! The bustle of the market is such a contrast to the spiritualness of the church.
St Charles Borromeo Antwerp, Belguim, Netherlands 🇱🇺 This beautiful church has a rich and interesting history: *Built in 1626 as the Jesuit church of Antwerp, it was the first church in the world dedicated to Ignatius Loyola, the Jesuit founder. *in the early 1600’s Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens was commissioned to paint altar pieces and ceiling pieces. Most were destroyed by fire in 1718. *The highly decorated naves got the attention of the current Pope who sent a letter telling them to stop spending money. *In the early 1800’s, for a short time during the Dutch reign preceeding Belguims’s Independence, its interior was scaled back and sobered to make it a Protestant church. *Another fire in 2009 left the church without pews (mostly due to smoke and water damage) being replaced with these fun chairs temporarily. *In June 2017, after a 240-year absence, Rubens artwork, “The Return of the Holy Family” came back to the chapel of St Joseph near the Chancel. I’m glad it’s back. ⛪️
