Joy from God is unexplainable. It’s so pure, and sweet. I could have the worst day of my life, but I still have a hope deep down inside me that doesn’t waiver. When people ask me, “How’s life?” I can’t ever say it’s awful. Even if everything is falling apart, I still know life is beautiful because I have Jesus. This is what joy is… temporary moods, seasons, and rough patches don’t determine the state my heart is in. God’s goodness triumphs all of that, and I make it through the bad parts because I know God is still good. Are you confused yet? I told you it’s unexplainable! You don’t understand joy from God until you truly experience it for yourself.
Our Lover
On this special Valentine’s Day we consider not a name or title of God but one of His attributes – God is love. Much has been written about love whether it’s ancient Greeks, Shakespeare, the Beatles or Ne-Yo. The Bible has its own contribution to the subject of love. It declares that God does not simply possess the capacity to love but that He is love and that His love is of a very special quality.
Love is a multi-functional word we use to describe our relationship with a parent, a pet, a celebrity, a hobby or even ice cream! Love is notoriously changeable and fickle – witness the number of broken relationships and modern songs expressing the pain of a broken heart.
God’s own special love is different. It is not a love that simply responds to another’s love because “he first loved us”. It is not a love that waited for us to be nice because “He shows and clearly proves his own love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom.5:8). You are loved with a love you do not deserve and can rely on it whatever you do. God is love!
Prayer: Thank You Lord for Your great and everlasting love for me

Three Types of Friends by TD JAKES
1. CONFIDANTS – You have very few of them – these are people who welcome you unconditionally. They are into you whether you are up or down, right or wrong, they are in it for the long haul. You can share anything with them. Having a good confidant is one of the keys that unlock the Kingdom.
These are people who you can share your deepest and darkest inner thoughts with, who won’t judge you but will feed you instead of draining you.
Have you ever had relationships where the person was emotionally immature and consistently draining you? It’s okay to help others but you must have someone who feeds you so you can feed someone else. They will confront you; they’ll get in your business and get in your face and tell you when you are wrong BUT will also come back and be by your side no matter what. They will never leave.
2. CONSTITUENTS - They are not into you but are into what you are FOR. They are for what you are for. As long as you are for what they are for they will be with you but never think they are for you. If they meet someone else that will meet their agenda they will hook up with them and leave you. Don’t mistake a constituent for a confidant. By the time you fall in love or are connected with them in a relationship, they will hook up with someone else and break your heart, leaving you wondering, “I thought our relationship was deeper than that.”
3. COMRADES - These are not for you nor are they for what you are for. They are just against what you are against. They are strange bedfellows. They are the enemy of your enemy who will team up with you to help you fight a greater enemy. They will only be with you until the victory is accomplished.
They are like scaffolding that is there until the building is built but is later removed because the building is built. Don’t be upset when they leave. They were not supposed to be there anyway. Don’t tell your dream to your constituents they will try to fulfill the dream without you. Don’t tell your dream to your comrades because they will not support you because they are not for you in the first place.
We serve such a generous and loving God. He loves you so much that there isn’t anything He wouldn’t do in order to have a relationship with you. The Bible tells us that sin separates man from God, but God doesn’t want to be separated from any of us. That’s why He sent Jesus into the world — to pay the penalty for sin so that we could live in eternity with Him.
So many people today think they have to earn their way to heaven. They think they have to be “good enough” or “do the right thing” in order to be accepted by God. They want to “clean up” before they come to Him. But the Bible says — salvation is a gift from God. You can’t earn a gift. You don’t pay for it. You can only receive it by faith and say thank You. If you’ve never received Jesus as the Lord of your life, there’s no better time to receive this free gift. Let Him fill you with His peace and joy both now and throughout eternity.
A Prayer for Today
Father, I come to You today giving You all that I am. Thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son. Jesus, I believe You died and rose for me, and I invite You now to be the Lord of every area of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
I believe that God is ready to present you with new opportunities. He wants to open new doors before you. It doesn’t matter what’s happening in the world around you, God’s Word remains true!
Remember, in an instant, God can bring the right people into your life, the right opportunities, and the right resources to take you to a whole new level. Today, choose to keep an attitude of faith and expectancy. Begin to thank Him for the opportunities that are just ahead for you. Shut the door on fear and let God lead you by His peace through the door of opportunity He has prepared for you!
