Can there be...
...too many shrimps?
RIP to my little babyfish, Pepper. I acquired Pepper in May 2024 as a "baby girl", chosen for her big black eyes. Pepper grew into a lovely strong boy. He loved to bite snails and explore his planted tank. His favorite food was bloodworms. When I would be feeding the other aquariums he would always watch me through the glass. He moved with us when we bought our first house. He was always vibrant and healthy until early January when he started seeming off. Eventually he stopped swimming but would still eat with assistance. I tried everything I could to heal him but this week he stopped eating. Today I used the clove oil and cried the whole time. My husband buried him in the garden.
duckweed truly does get everywhere
cucumber date
So, one time, I'm cleaning the aquariums, routine stuff, changing the water and pruning the plants. I'm just wearing pajama pants and a sport bra. Why get a lot of clothes covered in fish water, you know?
So my husband comes up behind me and starts trailing his hand down my back. Okay, sweet, I must be so irresistible, half naked with an aquarium siphon in my hand. But bad timing, right?
So I say, hey, not right now, I'm busy.
And he replies,
"You have duckweed on your back."
🙃
There are just...so many shrimp in this tank. The 20 gallon. It really exploded over the last year. They are red, yellow and orange.
Plus this lady who is yellow with a red spot??
Bonus: the 40b
I think that kuhli loaches are one of my favorite fishes
I got this little guy last month and he's still really small. I love how he's shaking the food like a puppy with a toy.
It's been a little while since I did shrimp lollies
They still love them. Interestingly, the 20long is swarming with shrimp. It's actually a nano community tank but I guess now it's a shrimp tank with fish. 🤷🏼♀️
sprout time in the 20
If i was cool i would make those pics some kind of time lapse experience but I'm definitely not
bonus amano in the 40b
Not sure what the frogbit in the 40B is trying to do lately...
Is it really happy and bursting forth, or maybe really miserable and trying to escape? Either way I had to prune out handfuls of it today while doing tank maintenance. Which seems a shame but I need at least a few open spots. 🥴
And then the duckweed is just duckweed, live or die who knows.
It's been awhile, life has been hectic. But here's Lemon the bristlenose enjoying a brussels sprouts.
I think he's about 18 months old now.
Her name is Lenore and she is 9 months old

This is little Freebie McShrimp
He arrived as a stowaway fry in a bag of adoption shrimp from petco ( who could resist 99c neos 😵💫). He was a colorless tiny creature and I wasn't sure if he would survive, but he is doing really well in the 40b community.
At first I thought he was a guppy but maybe he is an endler? Livebearers aren't my thing really, but I'm attached to little Freebie.
It's been awhile...we moved to a new place (our first house) and life has been hectic. The house has a finished basement which is our fish room (plus other things).
Moving these tanks was incredibly stressful and laborious 😵💫 we also moved our six cats and the aquariums were 1000x more difficult. We can never move again lol. But bonus....room for more tanks 😈
The fish in my 20g long have been dying off. It's really sad for me. I think maybe columnaris? I just got a new medication delivered which I will be adding today.
The shrimp are unbothered by whatever is killing the fish. I'm planning to move in the next six months or so...no plans on acquiring new fish until after that happens, I'm already stressed about moving my three tanks of nano fish and inverts (and six cats. and my 16.5 year-old dog). But I would like to save the remaining occupants if I can. :(
