Matt McKnight was a rather isolated/antisocial fellow who I saw listening to headphones in class one day. Being antisocial myself (but in a different way), I talked to him, and he turned out to listen to a lot of the same metal that we all listened to (including Manowar). He also got me into the band The Church — which is decidedly not metal. I remember asking him, “What kind of music is this?", and him replying, “Guitar." That was good enough for me.
You may remember the song “Under The Milky Way" being a Top 40 around 1989. They’re more popular in their native Australia. Anyway — The Church spread from Matt to me to others (possibly including Brent & Mark — who are fans, but I don’t know if they are fans because of me). Carolyn liks them a lot. Their new album, Uninvited, Like The Clouds, is actually quite good and a bit of a departure from their previous stuff.
