Hi! So I just got a whole heap of emails alerting me that Rory Harpers Guide to Mating has been updated and I’m so excited that you’re apparently still writing this? I can remember reading this way back in high school and it’s one of those stories that I still think about from time to time. So pumped about there being more.

i just checked back on FP after a long time & was so delighted to see updates! i've followed RHGtM since '11 & is to this day one of the best & most influential stories of my teens. i truly admire your dedication (& the world building!) to it! anyways, i saw that you'd set up a patreon, but has it been deactivated? i'm finally in a financial position to support you, but i can't find out how. once again, thank you for your stories; they've gotten me through some rough patches 🌻💕

Fanfic Recs?

You guys got any fanfic recs you wanna throw my way while I completely reconfigure this chapter? Ya know, so I can remind myself that words are my friend and not out to get me? Here are a couple of my all time favorites:

Accursed Ones by TheThirdAmell. It’s a Dragon Age fic, starring my boy Anders. It’s beautifully written and heartbreaking, but not super bleak all the time, with a bunch of funny moments throughout.

Freeport by Maldoror_Chant. This is a Gundam Wing fic. And it is my favorite fanfic of all time. Now, Gundam Wing was the first ever anime that I ever got into. Like I watched it when it was on Toonami forever ago. And it wasn’t until years and years later that I thought I’d go looking for some GW fic. Like the plot was a little fuzzy in my memory and I went in thinking I’d ship me some Duo/Heero. And then Freeport came along and brought it all back for me, changed my ship, and watered my crops. The characterization is just so wonderful and Freeport the colony, is practically a character itself it’s so alive. So I recommend the heck out of this one, even if you have no idea what Gundam Wing is, like maybe scan the wiki then give it a try? It takes place after the anime and the focus is very much not on mecha battles. It’s more about politics and the aftermath of war.

Ugh, what are words?

Struggling with this chapter. I like the first half of it, but I’m seriously thinking about tearing out the second half and going into a completely different direction. And I’m just hating every sentence I write, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Rory being proactive and actually leaving is a hard sell because he’s a delicate little puppy, but I guess I can suspend belief for kissing (and stuff). V excited for Piper’s POV since in Rory’s POV he never knows what’s going on with him lol

lol No, Rory didn’t go anywhere. After high school, he told his parents that he was taking a year off to “find himself” and his parents were all like “cool, cool, while you’re doing that find a job.” And like they made him pay rent (but like not even that much) and it was all like:

Rory’s Parents: *takes steps to prepare Rory for adulthood*

Rory: why have you forsaken me?

And like they even talked about the option of him joining another pack, but Rory nixed that in the butt pretty quick, cause he already had his pack joining fight (which wasn’t anywhere near as traumatizing as in canon, like him and Jordie had a hilariously bad slap fight that Jordie won by hitting Rory in the balls) but Rory was NOT about to do that again, thankyouverymuch.

Yeah, so he would still be a big ol’ ball of indecision and fear in this AU. True to form, Rory lol

Still working on the Piper one-shot. It’s probably going to be a little bit longer than your average chapter (or maybe even longer, b/c I originally didn’t think it was going to be this long).

And lemme just say that I love the Jias. I just want to write something about Winston and his family. Maybe something canon, maybe something not.

That AU I was talking about a bit ago was about Rory/Winston lol. Like if Piper had decided to just skip town and start life as a lone wolf, never meeting (and Mating) with Rory. And if Winston and Sophie Miller had broken up before they had gone off to college. And if Winston was back in North Ridge for the summer, where Rory was still bumming around since he has no idea what he wants to do with his life. And then they start hanging out and bonding over the fact that the future is scary. And then there’s kissing and stuff. : )

writing is fun, you guys

while I was taking a break from writing rhgtm (chapter 23 is coming, y’all) I spent a while making up a family tree in paint (for the MC in my sfdc series), it was really fun. World building is just so fun.
