Digging in the left pocket of his jeans, Sam pulled out a keyring that held the key to the cabin’s front door and dangled it from his thumb and index finger. “I figured we might want to take a look at our new home,” he announced, watching as Dean turned to look at him with a bewildered expression on his face.
“Wait… What?” Dean asked, turning toward Sam, wondering if he’d heard Sam correctly. “Did you just say…” Had he just heard Sam say that they owned the cabin? How was that even possible? Sure, they’d discussed moving out of the Men of Letters’ bunker and settling down, wanting to create a life for themselves as a married couple that no longer revolved around hunting, but he hadn’t been expecting this, to own a home of their own, or for it to happen so soon. Seeing the keyring dangling from Sam’s long fingers, he rounded the front of the Impala and pulled his husband into his arms. “Are you serious?” he asked, searching Sam’s face for any indication that his husband was playing a trick on him. It would be a cruel trick, seeing as how he had instantly taken to the idea of him and Sam finding a place to call their own.

Ketch, you there?" He tried again, his heart beating faster with worry.
When no answer came, Dean opened the door fully.
Ketch was standing in front of the small desk in his room, giving Dean his back. He was so focused that Dean could move closer without the other noticing, and he stilled, trying to understand what Ketch was doing. At least, he seems to be safe. Thank God for small miracles, Dean internally joked.
Ketch was holding a small, red candle in his hand. Its flame was the light Dean had seen from the outside, Dean guessed, since the main light of the room was actually turned off. A nine-branched candelabrum stood on top of the desk, and Dean kept looking without being able to speak, mesmerized, as Arthur lit the other candle — of a different color, Dean noticed, even though he had no idea wether that was of importance — already on it with the flame of the one in his hand.
"Baruch atah…" Arthur said something in a language Dean didn't know — it wasn't Latin, nor did it sound like any of the languages wanna-be witches he had met before had used.
An inkling told him he knew it, but he couldn't really think, focused on the sight before him.
Ketch's usually stoic face, which Dean had only ever seen adorned by a superior look and an arrogant smirk as he annoyingly made Dean feel like an idiot, was illuminated by the warm light in front of it, and it was now open and full of emotion. A tear was running down his already wet cheek, and his grey eyes, fixed on the flames, showed a vulnerability that almost felt… sacred. Even the black hair had a crown of crimson.
