The aim of the survey is just to have a bit of fun and see what people’s favourite bits of the show/fandom are.
If enough results are gathered to make reasonable conclusions from each of the questions, the results will be presented to Jared, Jensen and Misha in a book. The results will also be made available for fans to view on Tumblr and Twitter.

Firstly, I want to apologise for the complete lack of updates. The holidays happened and then work/life has been up and down so I’ve neglected the survey a little. Hopefully things will settle a little bit and I’ll be able to focus again on the survey.
The main update is that we’ve smashed my original target of 1,000 responses with a current total of 3,042!
Considering I’ve been completely lacking on promoting it, I’m so over the moon with this number!
Going forward, I have a few plans to further promote the survey including an instagram page (because there is A LOT of active Supernatural fans on there), and perhaps a giveaway of sorts (dependent on my income, which is a little rocky at the moment).
The survey will remain up until conventions start again (whenever that may be...).
My new goal for responses is 5,000! It would be awesome to get there.

I’m sorry I haven’t been very active on here for a while. It was Christmas and then life has been up in the air again because we’ve been put into lockdown again in the UK.
The survey is still up and will remain up until I know I can get to a con to give J2M the results (which isn’t looking likely any time soon...)
Just writing a post to say thank you so much to everyone who has taken part in the survey. It has done better than I could have ever hoped in less than a week.
I also wanted to post a screenshot of how I receive notification of new entries for complete transparency on anonymity.

I have no way of identifying who gave what answers at all.
I am able to click each ID and see the answers of individual surveys but I can’t see the overall results until I close the survey, which won’t be for a while yet. I’m not going through each completed survey either because there’s no point yet and it would take too long.
And again, as stated in the survey, I am not sharing any official results with anyone until they are posed to the public.
Why are all of the “canon” ships straight? There are plenty of gay romantic pairings. Also, mom of them include cas?

That’s a good observation and one that I completely missed when I created the options.
All I can offer as an explanation is that I mainly had Dean, Sam and Castiel in mind when creating the options (except John/Mary of course) hence why there is also no Bobby/Karen for example. I didn’t purposefully leave out any LGBTQ pairings. Perhaps it was remiss of me to make the question general and then give limited options. I apologise for that. I am human and the only one running this survey so there might be a few mistakes and things I could have done differently.
However, I will say that I did add the ‘Other’ option on many of the questions in the event that the answer you wanted to choose wasn’t there. This gives you a little more freedom. With a survey of this nature it is difficult to have endless options because it will make it very difficult to display the results. By including limited options and then an ‘Other’ I can display the results clearly. When it comes to the ‘Other’ responses given, I will include every submitted answer and how many people submitted it with the final results. (Eg. I have seen a couple responses already where people have written Destiel into the canon category so I will include them and enter how many people did the same.) I intend to make everyone’s voice heard if they participate in this survey.
I understand if this puts you off completing the survey but I hope you can accept my apology and consider taking part.
Hi! I loved the survey, this is a fantastic idea, but I hope you understand that some of us are wary of doing anything with people we're unfamiliar with on such a large scale. The last few weeks have been rocky and people have tried to pull the rug out from a lot of us, so I'm sorry if some of us seem hostile when offering criticism. We're just stressed and nervous of what may come of this.

I understand people’s feelings of uncertainty but I can say with absolute honesty that this survey is just to look at the show and fandom as a whole. I have no personal agenda behind this other than just seeing what is/was most popular with fans.
When I post the results to the survey I will encourage and ask people not to use the results as any firm conclusion about what every Supernatural fan thinks or feels. I hope people will respect that and not use it as some leverage over other fans.

Hey I'd just like to say I loved the survey and enjoyed taking it. And seeing MORE fandom discourse is what makes me not want to participate in anything. It reminds me of how people blamed Misha for the way Cas' arc ended when he's literally just doing his job and he advocated so hard for Castiel. It's the writers who did this to the fans AND the actors. Not the actors. Anyways, I just want you to know I support you.
I created this survey to bring positivity to a show/fandom that we’ve all loved at some point.
It’s upsetting that I’ve had a few negative responses from people (some even assuming that I have some ulterior agenda to this).
But I do understand that not everyone has had a positive experience in the fandom or with the show and their feelings are still valid too. I just wish some people were a little more polite/understanding about their opinions.

Done! But for any of my followers who haven’t taken it yet, be forewarned that the survey groups destiel into the “favorite non-canon romantic pairing” category with Dean/Sam, Dean/Benny, Sam/Gabriel, etc, rather than “favorite canon romantic pairing” with Sam/Eileen, Dean/Lisa, Dean/Cassie, etc.
So. Apparently Dean/Cas, even with a CANON LOVE CONFESSION and 12 years of history, is closer to the crack ships than the canon ships, which, you’ll note, includes one that lasted one whole episode.
I won’t lie, I’m a pretty level-headed person and I still contemplated closing out the survey. I’m still a little mad, though I think that’s mostly at SPN for leaving Dean and Castiel’s relationship in super mega hell, and us to deal with this type of bullshit for the rest of eternity.
In all honesty it pained me to put Destiel in the non-canon category. I ship them wholly and completely and I’ve even got a deancas themed tattoo planned. So to see this response hurts me a little bit.
I’ve been planning this survey for well over a year and have altered bits quite a few times. When 15x18 aired I changed Destiel to the canon category but with everything that has happened since I didn’t feel confident putting them there anymore (no matter how much I may have wanted to).
And again, I have been planning this for over a year, way before any of this canon/non-canon, season finale chaos. As much as I love Destiel, it is not the only aspect of this fandom for everyone in it and I wanted to be fair. This isn’t a shipping survey - it is a general SPN fandom survey that has to try to cover 15 years.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that but please don’t act as though this is an attack on Destiel and the fans.
If you don’t wish to take the survey I understand but please don’t try to discourage others from even looking at it and making their own responses/opinions.
