People think communication ability is in any way representative of your actual “intelligence” or how well informed you are and it honestly isn’t even close. Reasoning and communication are entirely separate skills which is how someone can sound brilliant and fool millions of people without comprehending one single actual solitary fact about what they’re discussing.

A large part of why I “lose” discussions or arguments about topics I am passionate about is because I become too emotional and the person I am speaking with immediately points that out and declares that my points are invalid because they’re born from emotion and not facts. Even when I’m quoting statistics or bringing up sources, if I say it in a voice that shakes or isn’t the right tone or has a little too much oomph in it they latch onto it and decide I’m incoherent.

As if human beings are supposed to be completely emotional when discussing facts.
