I had this weird idea that I couldn't getter out of my head :
Eddie (before the whole vecna thing but after S3) hearing Nancy and Robin talking about demogorgons and mind flayers and inviting them to Hellfire because he thought they played dnd too
I think Robin would panic and accept, even before Nancy could open her mouth to find an excuse
Robin and Nancy could then be taught how to play DND by the party
It's probably stupid but I just liked the idea of Robin, Nancy and Eddie becoming friends
rank nancys love interests ā¤ļø
Nancy love interests. Oh boi. I will state, I headcanoned Nancy as bi but grew to love the headcanon of her being a comphet lesbian. This is where I am at, and how I personally connect with the character of Nancy Wheeler. No direct ranking but here's the general order and vibes.
Robin - Ronance my OTP. Ronance is my beloved. I legitimately draw them all the time.
Barb - Let me explain further. DOOMED ship or Nancy didn't know she loved Barb romantically until it was too late or a few years later.
Chrissy - One-sided. Chrissy really likes Nancy Wheeler but it's not reciprocated. Haven't thought too much more about it. But I like the idea of Nancy navigating that and feeling flattered and desirable by women. And they become friends, and Nancy maybe helping Chrissy with trying to pursue Vickie. Anyway, lose thoughts, idk
okay okay, I have to acknowledge the boys...the mens... if you disagree and or are an anti-nancy person and try to light up my ask box. Know your words are going there to die, so don't waste your energy. Or do, then go pound sand.
Jonathan - meh just meh. I hate the doofy bros (disrespectful) wrote him to take photos of Nancy, to have him be in the right place to take a photo for the Demogorgon, and shoved her into a relationship with him. I like Jonathan as Will's older brother and a boyfriend to Argyle. That's it. I only tolerate it bc of actual Natalia and Charlie (bless them). But Jonathan as a character has become boring and creeped me out permanently with the photos.
Steve - No. Just no. I want them to become friends. I think that would be powerful in itself. Doofy bros fecked up his arc too I'm so mad. I want Steve to have his BFF Robin, become friends with his ex, and to be out of love triangles.
Stoncy - No this just compounds the issues with each guy separately. Rather have Stonathan atp. Get Nancy outta there.
If you got this far, thanks. Thanks for reaching out anon š
watching stranger things is not enough i need nancy wheeler to kiss me on the mouth
And what if Mike knew full well that he loved El he just also knew well enough not to say it. And that's what his reaction is. "Shit." Not "oh, shit." "Shit!"
Nobody was supposed to know because he knew how they'd take it. And he knew how they'd silently hold him to it. And he knew how she'd take it. Maybe a while down the line when they'd been just friends for a while, he could, but that wasn't here yet. Because he said it like common knowledge. Second nature. (As an audience, we didn't actually even know until this moment that they hadn't said it). It wasn't even the point of the sentence. "I love her and I CAN'T lose her again!" He was scared to lose her. That's all he was trying to say. We don't even see his reaction shot until after all the other's. He's reacting to their reactions.
So what if this
ISN'T him realizing something subconscious that's come to the surface. What if it's him panicking because he slipped up.
What if it isn't "woah, what did I just say?" but "oh god, what did I just do".
Look at him. He isn't panicking or thinking. He's examining reactions.
Okay I did not think about this until now, but it makes perfect sense given Mikeās reaction to Eleven saying she loves him too.
His reaction in this scene isnāt āOh shit, she loves me back.ā Itās āShit, what did I just get into.ā
Like you said, his āI love youā wasnāt a romantic confession, it was a part of his plea to keep El safe. He knows how everyone perceives it, hell even the majority audience interpreted it that way and holds him to it. Which is why he acts clueless and tries to brush off his romantic-not-romantic confession.
-El: Remember that day at the cabin? You were talking to Max. -Mike: Umm, I don't think I follow. -El: You talked about your feelings, your heart. -Mike: Oh. Oh, yeah that. Man that was so long ago umm, I don't know it was just heat of the moment stuff and we were arguing and... I don't really remember... what did I say exactly?
He wanted to forget it, and he hoped El hadn't heard. Because he knows what comes after, he knows El wants to be with him again over a false interpretation of his words. Truth is he does love El, but he can't say it in the romantic context that's now presented to him. Which is also why he never once wrote or said it to El (other than when Will told him to.)
guys letās start appreciating nancy wheeler i got another nancy anti on my feed
reminder she shot vecna through a fucking window and youāre trying to tell me sheās not a badass? die. by her hands preferably.
āat least steves bat does somethingā girl that was HER bat !!! he fucking stole it !!!
Every time I hear someone say Nancy Wheeler is closed off and cold on the outside due to trauma idk Iām just- I get the appeal donāt get me wrong. Characters like that are delectable but sheās just? not one of those characters? In fact to me sheās the opposite, in my head she gets way too attached to people due to trauma. She will quite canonically die for absolutely anyone, the only person she doesnāt care about is herself. And beyond that she was snappy with Robin for half an hour, that does not constitute being ādifficult to get to knowā
Also I do love that she isnāt that despite how she is definitely a good fit for the archetype, hardened tough girl who kicks ass and only looks out for number 1 because they have some secret past trauma is in, like, every media ever. But at some point it gets old, and the fact that Nancy is an absolute softie who asks Robin if they can be friends and cries during literally any occasion and also owns three guns and beats people to death with a fire extinguisher is very cool to me.
i have genuine real lore about this one. the cat in front of the box (aka the nancy cat) had to be separated from the others briefly because she was so spicy that she was turning the others against the human, too. and if that isnāt nancy coded as hell, idk what is.
STOPPPPššššš
s1 nancy wheeler my fucking beloved oh what did the fandom do to you. she's literally Just A Girl. she was buying clothes she thought her boyfriend would like!! she was studying hard because she's a nerd who wants to be as good as she can!! she was going to a shitty party with barb!! and then the next second her childhood best friend who's also her only friend goes missing and no-one seems to care and she's the only one who thinks something bad happened to her and no-one believes her. nancy wheeler is such a teenage girl oh fuck oh shit
Eddie and Wayne getting not just any house post-vecna, but the Harrington house itself. Steve's parents were selling it to any buyer, govt took it and threw it at the munsons as part of their hush money.
Steve's in the middle of getting evicted and he's miserable but then shock! eddie and wayne invite him to live with them! and so on and so forth...
@puppy-steve added this, and I want to add to it:
Things are a little uncomfortable at first. The Munsons donāt quite know how to make themselves at home in their new house, and Steve, despite his insistence that itās their house, still feels a little territorial of it. Itās the house he grew up in. Hell, itās practically been solely his house since freshman year, when his parents decided to start leaving him in Hawkins for months at a time. So, of course the plates go in the cupboard next to the oven, and the cleaning supplies goes in the downstairs coat closet thatās next to the half bath.
But he tries to remind himself that itās technically their house now, and thereās no way they could have known where things go because the Harringtons had movers clear out all of their belongings, including Steveās, which they had put in storage. (And moving all of that on top of the Munsonsā belongings in the middle of summer is hell on his still healing back, and could have been totally avoided if his parents had even thought for one second to call him. Although, heās grateful that they even left his stuff behind for him. The Munsons were already having to build back from the ground up. Acquiring a third thrifted bedroom set on top of everything would have sent him over the edge.)
So, yeah, it takes all of the self-control and character development he feels like heās gone through over the past few years to not bitch at Wayne when he wants to hang his mug collection from the hanging pot rack over the kitchen island or to tell Eddie, no, the pool house canāt be a smoking lounge, thereās too many toxic chemicals in there.
But itās also really nice to have people making noise in the house again. And the Munsonsā decorating style is far superior than Tiffany Harringtonās showroom style. It actually starts to feel like a real home, with the comfy couch and the various chintzy knick-nacks, and the fading family photos in mismatched picture frames. It inspires him to repaper his room with a wallpaper that doesnāt make his migraines flare up.
Wayne takes his parentsā old bedroom, and Eddie sets up in Richard Harringtonās old office because he canāt quite make it up the stairs yet.
Itās nice having the two men around. Steve finally has someone to watch baseball with, and, although he refuses to admit it, he enjoys the racket Eddie and his band make out in the garage whenever Eddieās finally feeling up to playing the guitar. When they get a big enough fold out table, Eddie starts hosting DND games, which means the kids come over more. And Wayne loves lounging on a pool float with a cold beer after work, so Steve finally has someone else to keep the pool clean for (and maybe he enjoys seeing Eddie in only his swim trunks, and he doesnāt yet want to confront why).
As the months wear on, they fall into a groove together. ļæ¼Soon, Eddie is healed enough to make his move up to the bigger bedrooms upstairs. But just because his wounds are mostly healed, doesnāt mean heās stopped having nightmares. Steve hears him one night and goes into check on him because he knows how awful the post-Upside Down nightmares all, and they stay up all night talking. At first itās about the Upside Down, then itās about the kids, then their shared memories of high school, then their deepest and most personal hopes and regrets, and then because everything got dark and heavy again and they are well into the early hours of the morning, their conversation turns nonsensical and full of sleep-deprived giggles until they finally succumb to their fatigue. And when Wayne comes home from work, itās to find them curled up in Eddieās bed, having good dreams for once.
They donāt mean for it to become a thing, but the next night, the two of them are hanging out in Steveās room chatting about everything and nothing until they fall asleep again, and it just. keeps. happening. It doesnāt matter if they are in one or anotherās bed or on the floor or even on the couch, whenever they have their nightly conversations, they always end up sleeping curled up into each otherās sides. And itās definitely not intentional. They just keep finding ways to drag out their conversations, or Steve was watching a baseball game, or Eddie was reading aloud to him, or the album is better listened to with eyes closed, orā
Okay, so maybe itās intentional.
It takes a full month of these excuses and near sleepless nights and miserable early morning shifts after said sleepless nights, until theyāre finally ready to admit that maybe sleeping side by side is actually what they want. Then it takes another week and a half for them to realize and admit that they want to sleep together. Before they know it, theyāre hopelessly in love.
By the time Christmas rolls around, they are a fully domesticated couple that pretty much the entire town knows about because they are almost always together and just canāt seem to keep their hands off of each other in public (seriously, does a deli trip really necessitate holding hands the entire time?). And the neighbors who were cold to them beforeābecause theyāre a bunch of rich snobs who resent the fact that ātrailer trashā moved into the neighborhoodāgo out of their way to avoid the town queers. And although Wayne hates that people feel some type of way about his boys, honestly, heās relieved that theyāve finally stopped pretended to be nice to him and coming up to talk to him when he just wants to garden in peace.
This kind of got away from me, but just..the three of them living together and building a home.
What kind of animals do u see Robin owning? And what kind of animals do u see Nancy owning?
I love this question.
In my mind, Nancy is obsessed with animals. She was never allowed pets growing up except a couple of fish and a hamster she loved way too much so that only fueled her love for animals. I feel like she has a pitbull who has like 80 pairs of pajamas and maybe like a cat.
However, I feel like Robin most definitely owns a cat. She's always been a bit uneasy around dogs because she's so flipped out about rabies and getting attacked, so she was a bit skeptical when Nancy told her she had a pitbull, but once she met it she started to really like her. But Nancy's dog is the only dog she likes, besides Steve's.
Their lets would totally get along too. Robin's cat is very cuddly and outgoing and so is Nancy's dog so they just have family movies night snuggling. But Nancy cat doesn't like anyone besides Nancy, and Robin didn't even see the thing until they moved in together.
Nancy also most definitely keeps bringing home strays that Robin has to say no to because they legally can't have any more animals in their apartment.
I love that folks are being more accepting of autism, but I don't love that autism is being sanitized into a quirk.
There's a cute and acceptable form of autism on social media, and I don't see any indication that folks are remotely ready for discussing the rest of it, which contains all the uncomfortable things that impede a person's everyday life, require support, and make acceptance almost impossibleāwhere the hygiene struggles, inappropriate social behaviors, involuntary movements and outbursts, meltdowns, and emotional dependence issues live. And the cuter and more sanitized the "good" autism gets, the more unacceptable the "bad" autism becomes.
It's tricky when people say they're supportive of people on the spectrum but don't like it when you:
don't like shaving or wearing makeup
have food restrictions
stim a lot of the time
need sensory protection
have "childish" interests
need to know schedules ahead of time
need a lot of alone time
can't handle certain textures
have trouble regulating emotions
don't carry conversations well
correct their mistakes
show any other common autistic behavior
Why are soooo many people reblogging and liking my Ronance post??
Do people just REALLY like Ronance?
In that case...
