The state budget passed!!!

I have a positives!

There is now a larger budget for public school districts that includes more funding for free breakfast! And as a teacher, 100% a positive!

While they weren't able to ban data centers, data centers do have to report how much energy they're using. Which is better than nothing!

Community colleges and trade schools are receiving more funding which is highly needed!

And in this political climate gotta take what you can get

That's a really good point! Back in 2023, Pennsylvania was court-ordered to increase funding for the poorest public schools. This year's budget added more than 900 MILLION DOLLARS in additional funding for the school system.

The governor's website highlights that the funding will be used for adequacy measures to lessen the divide between rich and poor districts, mental health resources, special education, pre-k enrollment initiatives and, as mentioned above, free breakfasts!
