**(If any librarians/teachers/bookstore peeps etc want a free printed version of this poster please email me at adriennekress @ gmail.com)**
Guys. I'm in love. With a poster. It's time I told the world! And honestly, can you blame me?? Look how beautiful it is! And what a great personality it has as well - readers really ARE explorers! And of course there's a pig in a teeny hat. . . I mean . . .that's kind of the icing on the cake. Or . . . pig in a teeny hat on the book pile . . .
Anyway, yes, I love it. I'm a very happy person. The artist for my book series, THE EXPLORERS, @mrockefeller, created it and I just am overwhelmed with what an amazing job he did. I love the colour palette, I love seeing Sebastian and Evie just hanging out, I love the layout, I love the symmetry that is but also isn't, I just . . . I love it :) <3
I can’t quite believe that it’s time to share another cover but it is! Even though book 1 in THE EXPLORERS series (The Door in the Alley) just came out and is still making it’s way into the big wide world, book 2 has still been chugging along behind the scenes, waiting in the wings, for its entrance!
Well it’s finally time to turn the spotlight onto it! To all and sundry (especially sundry) may I finally introduce to you to the amazing splendiforous utterly thrilling cover and title for Book 2 in THE EXPLORERS SERIES:
*drum roll*
THE RECKLESS RESCUE!!!
For those of you who have read Book 1, I do believe the title will make some sense. But here’s some book cover copy for one and all:
We have left things unresolved! What began as your average story of a boy stumbling upon a pig in a teeny hat and a secret international explorers society has turned into an adventure of epic proportions.
The bad news: The boy (Sebastian) has been kidnapped by a trio of troublesome thugs.
The good news: His new friend Evie has promised to rescue him!
The bad news: Sebastian has been taken halfway around the world.
The good news: Evie has famous explorer and former Filipendulous Five member Catherine Lind at her side!
The bad news: There’s still the whole matter of Evie’s grandfather (the leader of the Filipendulous Five) somewhere out there in grave danger.
The good news: Pursuing Sebastian will lead Evie and Catherine to another member of the Filipendulous Five, who might be able to help.
This missive is a call to action and an invitation to join in mystery, bravery, and danger. We are about to embark on one amazingly reckless rescue.
*Coming April 2018*
Once again the art is by the incomparable @mrockefeller and once again I LOVES IT!! I love the colour, I love all the elements - yes Sebastian and Evie are once more awesome, and the pig is adorable, but it’s also so super cool to see Benedict Barnes finally make an appearance! I also love how the globe theme carries over from book one, but we have a new kind of globe this time. I just … I really loves it is my point! And have crazy mad respect and admiration for Matt and his artistry (for the curious, Matt and I interviewed each other for Shelf Awareness about the creation process for Book 1′s cover here!).
THE RECKLESS RESCUE isn’t out until Spring 2018, so in the meantime please do check out Book 1, THE DOOR IN THE ALLEY, here!
I feel this quote so hard. I used to try to explain the very same thing to people but could never find quite the words to articulate it. Thank you Mr. Lewis, for helping me out with that!
Not sure if you guys are aware of this, but Toronto has an island that’s part of it :) . And from said island you can take the most amazing pictures of the skyline. And so . . . I did.
There were so many guys dressed as #StarWars #Rey at #dragoncon2016 – I wish I’d managed to get pics of all of them. And they weren’t dressed in a “haha look at me, I’m a man dressed as a woman, isn’t this funny?” kind of way, but in a “I LOVE REY AND I’M DRESSED UP AS HER!” serious love & appreciation kind of way. It was awesome. (The guy on the right chased me down and was so excited to get a picture since we were both dressed as “lightsaber Rey”)
