SEC women's basketball season champs

With the addition of Oklahoma and Texas the way this season came to determine the number one seed in the women's sec championship looked a little different. First, they go off of who had the best sec record, then based on head-to-head games. However, for South Carolina and Texas they had the same record and went 1-1 against each other during the season. So, what did they do? They determined it based on a coin flip. South Caolina got the number one seed from winning a coinflip.

Although I'm a Gamecock this needs to be changed when it comes to tie breakers and determining seeds. I think Texas should have been the number one seed. They should have gone off of point differential between the two game they played which Texas had the higher point differential as they won't their game by more. Maybe the SEC needs to do some changes to their tie scenarios.

NFL Combine

The past few days the NFL has been holding their annual draft combine where they invite future draft picks to come and showcase their skills in order to get a better understanding of the players athletic abilities. Today, I will be discussing about the "Clear Winner" of the combine. Not that there is actually a winner but the person who stood out and impressed the most.

This person was Nick Emmanwori the safety out of South Carolina. He stood listed as 6'3 220 lbs. which is massive for a safety. With having a frame this large he amazed when he ran a 4.38 second forty and listed a remarkable 43 inch vertical. Prior to the draft he was expected to go between late first round and early second round. After this weekend he's now looked at to go as early as pick 14. This change in picks could be a potential multiple million-dollar payday increase compared to his previous draft position.

USA vs Canada Rematch

How is it going today were going to be taking a dive into the world of hockey. For the last week the Four Nations tournament has been going on in replacement of the "all-star" game and it has been a huge success. These players are hungry and honored to represent their country and they are showing that on the ice. The four teams are The United States, Canda, Finland, and Sweeden. The biggest story from this so far was the US vs. Canada match in which there were three fights in the first minute of the match. This is everything a hockey fan could dream of. Seeing this fire and emotion in these matches make it all the better. The United States came out on top of Canada 3-1 on Candas Home Ice. Canada looks to get even earning their way into the championship and the opportunity to get revenge against the United States. Look for the Tkachuk brothers will most likely come out gloves dropping once again bringing the grit to fire up the lads for the United States like they did previously. I may be biased but I am taking the United States to come out on top once again with a 3-2 final. No matter the winner this is going to be a great match and it continues to grow hype and attention attracting people who do not even watch hockey.

NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND

This weekend we celebrated the NBA's all stars. The first individual event was the 3-point contest. The participants were Cade Cunningham, Darius Garland, Tyler Herro, Buddy Heild, Cam Johnson, Damian Lillard, and Norman Powell. I was biased when it came to this event as I am a Miami Heat fan which Tyler Herro plays for. The players to make the final round of the contest were Tyler Herro, Damian Lillard, and Buddy Hield. Tyler Herro came out victorious by one point to claim the title of 3-point champion.

The Dunk contest which has been on a downfall over the last five years was better than anticipated. Matas Buzelis, Stephon Castle, Andre Jackson JR., and Mac McClung were the four participants. Everyone was very average besides the winner and now 3-time dunk contest champion Mac McClung. He came out on top receiving multiple perfect scores for his dunks. It is amazing to watch him as I remember seeing his highlight reels on Instagram when he was in high school. Then seeing him take Texas Tech on a deep run during March Madness. Mac McClung has now won three times in a row and hopefully this will entice larger stars to compete.

Eagles are your Super Bowl Champions

The Eagles win Super Bowl 59 in dominating fashion. The Eagles bested the Chiefs with a final score of 40-22 although they were more dominate than the score shows as the Chiefs scored two late meaningless touchdowns to have the score board help make the beat down look not as bad. The difference maker was the Eagles defense who forced three turnovers one of which was for a touchdown. They held the explosive Chiefs offense to just 6 points in the first three quarters. Cooper Dejean and Zack Braun both came away with an interception for the Eagles Defense. The Chiefs said they were gonna stop eagles running back Saquon Barkley and they did just that holding him to only 57 yards on 25 carries. However, focusing on stopping the run game lead them vulnerable to the passing attack where quarterback Jalen Hurts took over. he was almost perfect going 17/22 for 221 yards and two touchdowns throwing just one interception. This performance earned him the honor of Super Bowl MVP. The Eagles look to return just about all of their production next season where they look to go back-to-back.

Could this be the end of the Chiefs reign. There are talks about Travis Kelce retiring as well as some key pieces needing to be resigned on the defensive side of the ball. If it is they had an incredible run coming short of the three-peat. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are quite the quarterback and head coach duo. If they're able to find solid replacements for who they are losing, I would not be surprised if we see a rematch in next year's super bowl in San Francisco.

Kendrick Lamar took center stage at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans and put on a performance that had fans talking. He ran through some of his biggest hits, including "Not Like Us," "HUMBLE.," and "DNA." The stage was full of energy, with impressive visuals and choreography that kept the crowd hyped. One of the coolest moments of the night was when SZA joined him on stage to perform their songs "Luther" and "All the Stars." Getting to see my favorite female artists was great and others would definitely agree. There was a little controversy too. Lamar left out a lyric from "Not Like Us" that had previously stirred up drama, but he still made subtle references to his ongoing feud with Drake. People were quick to pick up on it, adding to the buzz around his performance. Overall, Kendrick delivered a halftime show that balanced high-energy hits, and a bit of drama. Fans will be talking about this one for a while!

Jimmy Butler Trade: Dalton Knecht trade rescinded

Some wild NBA moves just went down! Jimmy Butler is officially out of Miami and heading to the Golden State Warriors in a big trade. In return, the Heat are getting Andrew Wiggins, P.J. Tucker, Kyle Anderson, and a future first-round pick. Butler had been asking for a trade, and now he’s got his wish. He’s already locked in a two-year, $121 million extension with the Warriors. Meanwhile, Heat President Pat Riley seems happy with the trade, saying the new guys will fit in perfectly. Even Tyler Herro backed the move, saying he thinks Wiggins will be a great addition to Miami. But not all trades went through. The Lakers and Hornets had a deal involving Mark Williams and Dalton Knecht, but at the last second, it got canceled. Nobody knows the full details yet, but apparently, the trade didn’t meet some requirements, so both players are staying put.

It’s just another reminder of how crazy the NBA can be. Teams are making big moves, and fans are left wondering how it’ll all shake out.

As we approach the trade deadline we have two big trades. Late on February 1st Shams reported and the NBA later confirmed a trade sending Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christee, and a 2029 First round pick. The Mavs also sent Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morriss in the trade. This is a huge headliner and has sent a wave of shock through the NBA community. Many thoughts including I that there was a good chance Luka Doncic would follow in the footsteps of Dirk and become a Maverick for life. However, a recent change in ownership changed that narrative. To me it makes no sense from both a winning perspective and a business perspective to trade Luka Doncic. He was the star of the franchise, and many would argue the face of the league. This along with Anthony Davis being up there in age and continuing to struggle with injuries really makes this trade a head scratcher. The most recent trade as of 9 p.m. est. on February 2nd is one that sends the explosive point guard De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs with a third team being involved which is the Bulls sending Zach Lavine to the Kings. This trade is a win for both teams but, I think Fox will fit in very well with the spurs. A team which is currently relying on an ancient Chris Paul to dish the ball to wemby they now have a ball dominant scoring point gaurd to do this.

Super Bowl 59 is on February 9th, 2025, in New Orleans, Louisiana between the Chiefs and the Eagles. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs look to win their Third straight super bowl. They were victorious over the Eagles last year in super bowl 58. However, this year is different as the Eagles have added star running back Saquon Barkley to their team. One player does not make a team however the addition of Barkley has taken this Eagles team to another level. Now with offensive weapons like Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and Devote Smith has their offense looking unstoppable. The Chiefs this year have looked flat in comparison to their previous two years but, they find themselves right back in the super bowl after being led by star sensation Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. With their offense being lackluster this year compared to prior years their defensive has stepped it up this year to make up for it. I think this super bowl will be exciting and competitive. I predict the Eagles to come out on top and end the Chiefs reign by a score of 35-27. I believe Saquon Barkley will once again shine and look to be the favoite to win the Super Bowl MVP. This is going to be a great event and should be exciting for all fans especially with the halftime performance by Kendrick Lamar. All of the country will be watching, and this should be one for the ages.

Mahomes and the do it again. We will get a matchup between the Chiefs and the Eagles yet again. The Eagles absolutely route the Commanders to advance to the super bowl. Mahomes and the Chiefs struggle against the Bills but outlast Josh Allens final drive after getting a stop on a crucial 4th and 5 to seal the game. Saquon Barkley did it again. He had over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the eagles to the super bowl. This will be Barkley's first super which many fans are excited to see after his stint with the Giants and their failure to make the playoffs. My prediction is the Eagles will win the super bowl 35-27. Saquon will once again have an outstanding game winning his first super bowl to most likely cement a spot in Canton, Ohio the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Ohio State reigns supreme

The Ohio State Buckeyes topped the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame 34-23 to become the first ever College Football Playoff 12 team winner. Ohio State was also the winner of the first every College Football Playoff which was 4 teams in 2014, which was also their last national championship. As I said in my last post turnovers would win the game and Ohio State won the turnovers with One turnover Vs. Notre Dame's 0. The story of the game was Ohio States strong offense jumping out to an early 21-7 lead to end the first half. The story of the game was one of Ohio States two premier backs. Quinshon Judkins tallied 100 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 11 carries averaging just under 10 yards a carry. On the other side Riley Leonard showed his determination for Notre Dame completing 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 255 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception. Ohio State is going to be a favorite to be right back here next year with the return of star freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith and the return of their defensive leader linebacker Sonny Styles. It was a great game, and Notre Dame showed their grit that they've carried all season by fighting to make a comeback towards the end of the game, but it was too late. The Ohio State Buckeyes are your National Champions.

CFP National Championship insights

We get the return of a classic rivalry Monday between The Ohio State University and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame to determine the National Champion of College Football. I predict Ohio State to come out on top 42-28 over the Irish. Ohio State looks to dominate on the defensive side early and disrupt the Irish with help from star defensive players Caleb Downs (Cornerback) and Jack Sawyer (Defensive End) who both came up with big turnovers last week to put Ohio State Over Texas. Jeremiyah Love (Running Back) and Riley Leonard (Quarter Back) Look to lead Notre Dame's explosive offense over Ohio State. I think this game will come down to turnovers. Whichever team can lead in turnovers I believe will be the team to come out victorious at the end of the game.

NFL divisional round outlook

This week we had some great playoff matchups in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. These matchups were filled with high powered offenses clashing against some of the best defenses in the league. Currently the Bills and the Ravens are in a close snow matchup where the score is 24-19 with the Bills leading with 6:30 left in the fourth. Jadyn Daniels showed once again why he should win Offensive Rookie of the year as they took down the Number one seeded Detroit Lions 45-31. They are extremely hot with a bright future ahead. The Eagles out lasted the Rams 28-22 with another incredible outing from Saquon Barkley putting the Eagles in a great spot to win the Super Bowl. Last but not least the Chiefs took down the Texans with some help from the referees with a final score of 23-14. These were some exciting matchups and lived up to the hype.
