Finally finished Moominpappaโs Memoirs! Here are some more cute moments:
Joxter meets Mymble and almost immediately moves in with her. (Or, at the very least, he moves into the tree in her front yard.) This man was a simp from day 1.
Awwwww Snufkin getting jealous over the idea that his dad liked Mymble more than him. He is very easily mollified, however. And yet another mention of Joxter being cat-like!
Mymble had more children during the time Joxter has been living in her apple tree, so she is either seeing other men while dating Joxter, has been pregnant since meeting him, or Snufkin is not the only half-mymble, half-mumrik child these two have brought into this world. Is Snufkin one of the children mentioned here? Or does he come in later?
I know this is probably not what is happening, but I like to imagine that the two little kids there in the lower right-hand corner are, in fact, baby Little My and Snufkin.
Sniff having a very understandable reaction to Moominpappa forgetting about his motherโs existence until it became relevant to his story.
Awww, Snufkin learning about his mom. It didnโt take him long to put 2 and 2 together. Also interesting that he specifically mentions Little My, but not Mymble Jr, or any of his other numerous siblings. He hasnโt even met Little My yet and sheโs already his favorite.
And I love how the book consistently reminds the audience how round Mymble is.
In order to appease Sniff and Snufkin, who have spent this entire book getting only crumbs of information about the parents they didnโt even know they had, the book very abruptly decides to manifest their parents into existence right outside the front door. And just as Moominpapp has finished his memoir, too. What a very lucky coincidence!
I will, however, overlook this absurd plot twist, because, like, look.
Look how cute they all are. Sniff and Snufkin are so happy to be reunited with their parents! (And in Snufkinโs case, several of his siblings, too.)
And that is where the book ends.
There is, of course, no explanation for how Sniff and Snufkin got separated from their parents, nor how Moominpappa even figured out that these two orphaned children that his wife just sort of adopted out of no where were related to his friends. Or, for that matter, why he didnโt ever say anything soonerโฆ
Butโฆ oh well. I suppose this book is supposed to be silly and not make much sense.
