Tree Grounding/Rooting
So this is a technique I learned a while ago before I really got into witchcraft. I guess it could considered a mindfulness meditation as well. It doesn’t really matter what you call it.
A lot of my craft focuses on the mind and centering it on what’s going on inside of you and then reaching out to what’s around you. In this particular exercise you dispel negative energy by feeding it back into the earth and then, if needed, draw up neutral energy (because everything that goes into the earth becomes neutral until we do something to change it) back from the earth to recharge yourself.
To Begin:
I like to start this exercise sitting cross legged on the floor, you can do it outside or in a chair inside-whatever is easiest for you.
Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. See if you can feel the different flows of energy and emotions within your body with each breath.
Visualize yourself as one with the Earth. Realize that despite be physically separate, energetically we all come from the same thing.
Start to, in your mind’s eye, see your spine/tail bone grow like the base of a tree or a vine, and see yourself being rooted into the Earth itself.
Visualize your roots going deeper into the Earth, searching for it’s core.
When you’ve found where you feel your roots need to be, stop. Enjoy feeling connected for a moment. Let your mind wander, this is healthy, just remember to come back.
Feel that energy flowing through you again. Try to separate the negative energy you don’t want out from the rest.
Give it a color or a form in your mind and try to push it down through the roots into the core of the Earth, asking that she take it into herself and neutralize it where it can no longer harm anyone.
Once you feel the negative energy fully leave you and your roots, think about how you feel. Do you feel lighter? More calm? A little freer maybe? At this time do you need to recharge with some more neutral energy that you can make positive?
While still connected to the Earth by your roots, if you need to recharge, ask for some neutral energy in return for your offering you have just given. With each breath in feel the energy come higher up the roots and eventually fill you. Allow it to flow through you, knowing that it simply is, and has possibilites to go either way, depending on what you do with it.
When you are ready you can thank the Earth for helping you and start to pull back your roots with each breath. Once you feel like you have full returned you can open your eyes and evaluate how you feel.
Hopefully this can help some of you. It doesn’t take super long, although I know it seems to have a lot of steps. I was trying to break it up for readability. I’ve used it before spellwork, tarot readings, seances, and just when I need to cleanse myself of negativity. It can be quite helpful. Let me know what you guys think and your results?

Grounding, a quick how-to
i like to think of grounding as the magical equivalent of a jogger stretching their legs before and after a run. it focuses you and gets you ready to get stuff done. grounding is the process of ridding yourself of negative/stale/stagnant energies, and pulling in new, fresh, powerful energies, and connecting with the energies around us.
here is a short list of ways/options of how to do it.
physically
literally shake it out. stretch, crack your knuckles, etc. breathe, roll your neck around, clench your fists and then stretch them wide open.
visualization / the tree method
imagine tree roots growing out of your feet and into the ground, and branches growing out of your arms/head into the sky. pull energy into yourself through the roots/branches
others
you can invent your own ways to ground. as long as it involves pulling energy into you (from whatever source, it doesn’t just have to be the earth) and connecting with the sources around you.
✨⚔️☕️ Done-Fucking-Around Coffee Charm ☕️⚔️✨
This is a simple little charm I use to enchant my morning coffee to help me defeat the day, be productive and kick ass.
YOU’LL NEED:
☕️ a beverage
💎a crystal connected to your goal for the day (I use blue goldstone or substitute my mini blue glitter jar for creativity)
DO THE CHARM
⚪️ set the crystal down next to the cup to charge the brew
⚪️ pour or stir clockwise while brewing to attract productive energies
⚪️ repeat an incantation a few times while brewing. This is mine:
“I am a writer & I am done fucking around. I am a writer & I get shit done.”
⚪️ make sure the incantation is short, simple, and makes you feel like a badass (this is why so many of mine include swearing). It could just be “Today I’m going to [goal or task] and I’m done fucking around.”
⚪️ that’s it! drink up and have a productive day.
TAKEAWAY TWEAKS for when you’re buying rather than brewing.
⚪️ slip the crystal under the edge of the saucer
⚪️ or hold the crystal in your hand under the take away cup
⚪️ if there’s a place to stir, do. You can run your finger clockwise around the rim, or skip it altogether.
⚪️ say the incantation under your breath (if it’s noisy) or in your head (if it’s quiet)

Spell Record Worksheet
For people who want to record their spells in a grimoire or elsewhere and enjoy having an outline like I do. This is designed to make it as easy as possible to look back and see what elements may have effected the outcome for better or worse.
✒️Name of Spell: Self-explanatory. ✒️Intent: What do you want to gain from this? What’s the goal? ✒️Time Cast: Date, day of week, moon phase, etc. ✒️Ingredients/Materials Used: Consider adding their relevant correspondences or WHY you chose them in particular. ✒️Actions: What did you do? What did you say? ✒️Notes: Did anything strange or interesting happen while casting? Relevant music come on? Were you interrupted? Are the candles acting weird? Make note. ✒️Outcome: Follow up with the results! Did it work in the way you expected, or do you need to tie up loopholes next time? If it didn’t work, what elements of the spell could be improved?
🍵🌙a bedtime tea spell🌙🍵
Today was physically and emotionally exhausting and some more trials face me tomorrow, so I crafted this spell to both help me sleep through the night as well as give me luck for tomorrow.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
About an hour before you go to bed, put on water for tea. Before submersing the chamomile (or other sleepy-time tea), think of positive imagery (white light, etc.) and say:
As this tea I drink deep, Help me rest and go to sleep. With this tea do I pray Tomorrow will be a better day.
Then submerse your tea leaves in the water. If you’re a sweetener person (like me), say this additional spell before adding it:
May tomorrow be as sweet As this (honey/sugar) that I eat.
I’m off to the woods ! It’s been too long, I need to sit in a creek and forget some things.
A Deep Room Cleanse
The state of my room is extremely important to me. It’s a direct reflection of my mental health, so when it’s messy, my energy levels are low and I just feel yucky. There’s no way I’m getting any kind of work done, magical or mundane. When it feels good and clean to be in, it’s a lot easier to deal with my symptoms and be productive. You don’t have to do every step every time of course, but each step has helped me so I figured a list like this might help someone.
Change the lighting. Use natural sources of light (like pulling back the curtains and letting the sun in) over artificial ones. If you have salt lamps to turn on, those are still very nice. If you need artificial light to keep it from being too dark, try to prioritize light bulbs you like the color of, and ones that don’t whistle quietly when they’re on.
Change the airflow. Open a window, if you can. Often our rooms feel yucky because the air is stale. Get some fresh air moving. If it’s too cold, it’s okay to only keep it open for a few minutes or put on a coat while you work because you’re stubborn like me.
Change the sound. Put on your favorite cleansing music. Let it soak into the room. I tend to go or ambient spa stuff, or playlists that sound built for a rainy day. (Note: the music that helps you cleanse the best may not be the same as what you like the most. The playlist should keep you focused/uplifted while you work and reflect the vibes you want your room to have.)
Change the smell. Take out the trash, maybe refresh the sheets on your bed. Light a scented candle, some incense, heat up some oil, something to make your room smell distinctly different from the mucky-feeling room from before. (If your method of choice is something short like a room spray, I actually like doing it at the very end.)
Actually clean and organize. Nothing junks up the energy of a room more quicker than actual junk. Organize everything as much as you can (this might mean finally gutting your closet, even if you can close the door and hide it.) Wipe down any surfaces that need it, get everything fresh and functional again. Do some laundry while you work. If you have clothes or trinkets that are just collecting dust, extra points for purging them!
Cleanse any sacred spaces by themselves. A lot of us have altars or shrines in our rooms. A sacred space can also be just an extra important area of your room, like a reading nook. Make sure to give them extra attention! You don’t need to wipe the board energetically (and probably shouldn’t), but taking a little extra time to clean surfaces, straighten up, and make sure everything feels okay on them goes a long way.
Cleanse in your regular way. Bust out the herb bundles, the bells, the ribbons, the broom, whatever you usually do to cleanse a space! The room is SUPER primed for it now, most of the negative energy probably already feels removed if not broken down. A good once-over with your favorite cleansing method should finish it off nicely.
Refresh any wards or protections. Self explanatory. If you maintain energy borders in your room, now is a good time to check in on them and zhoosh them if needed. Keep the space clean for longer!
Practice self-care. Take a shower, a nap, eat some food, whatever you need. You’ve put in a lot of work and you deserve it.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN PENDULUM
I don’t particularly like crystals or find them meaningful, and embroidery is something I use a lot of in my practice so I thought ‘How can I make my own pendulum?!’
I’m super proud of this and wanted to share in case there are any more stitchy witches out there ;)
Make your template. Start with a circle, then cut a line just to the centre. Spiral it in until you get a cone roughly the shape and size you want your pendulum to be, then mark where that is and cut away the excess. As I was also going to be embroidering a rhyme twisting around the whole thing, I roughly sketched onto the pattern to get an idea of where it would cross over.
Trace your pattern onto a fairly sturdy fabric and get embroidering! I used a spare piece of stretch corduroy from some trousers I cut up, but I wouldn’t recommend using a stretch fabric. Something with a tight enough weave that the sand won’t leak out, sturdy enough to hold its shape, but flexible enough to create such a small, pointy object. Canvas would be perfect, or denim.
Once it’s all embroidered, cut it out leaving seam allowance and a lot of excess fabric at the top to gather. Sew using the teeniest stitches you can along the straight edge and up the excess top fabric. I used a back stitch and did a double layer of stitches because I really didn’t want it to leak!
Turn it all inside out, using something sharp to really poke out the pointy end, and then fill with sand/earth/grain/anything that’s dry and won’t rot. You can also chuck some dried herbs in there, or your own hair, or nail clippings, or crystals… use your imagination! I had to also put a thick paper cone in there to reinforce the shape, as the stretchy fabric I’d used made it all look a bit lumpy! Fill it right up to the top, trying not to leave any gaps.
Tie a knot in your cord and bury it in the middle of your cone. Sew a small running stitch around the top roughly at where the fabric will meet in the middle and pull it tight to gather the fabric in. Use a nice strong thread so you can really gather it, then start to add more stitches through the centre of your cord to really secure it. Keep adding stitches into the top until you’re sure that the filling won’t leak and that the cord is secure. Trim off the excess then, if you like, wrap a decorative thread around it to neaten up and hide your stitches.
At this point I also finished off my embroidery, finishing the words that crossed over the seam and adding a red spiral to help make the sentence more legible.
Enjoy this thing you’ve just made! I love to make my witch tools myself and I love to use embroidery to connect with my female ancestors.
Wax Seal Charms
From simple love spells to glamours and hexes, wax seal charms are a powerful and versatile tool for any witch’s arsenal. Small, completely customizable, inconspicuous, and easy to hide, these simple charms are useful for nearly any type of magick.
First, you will need a smooth, relatively flat work surface that can withstand heat (I use a ceramic tile I got from Lowe’s). Fold a small envelope from a square of paper. You want the envelope to be the same size as or smaller than the wax seal to ensure complete wax coverage.
Next, write your intent (or draw a sigil) on the inside of the envelope. Keep it simple or write very small.
You can add a small pinch of herbs (or a taglock) if you like, but try not to use too much or the charm won’t flatten and may not seal correctly.
Once you’ve added your herbs, fold the envelope shut. (Here I added one of my 4-leaf clovers for a little extra flair.) You may need to squish it a little to keep it closed.
Pour your wax over the envelope, making sure to cover any open edges, and place your stamp in the molten wax. Apply light pressure for a few moments and then allow to cool.
Once completely cool, remove your stamp and peel the charm off your work surface.
And voila! A small, portable charm that can easily be slipped into a purse or wallet unnoticed.
What kind of water should i use?
Sea Water: Water from the sea is great for cleansing and healing rituals. I recommend it for cleansing crystals (but be careful, not every crystal/stone can/should be cleansed in water). It’s also great for banishing and protection spells!
Storm Water: Spells and rituals that has to do with emotional strength, confidence, charge, motivation and force. It’s known for strengthening spells. Storm water is great for curses as well.
River Water: Spells and rituals that has to do with moving on, focusing energy, breaking through rough paths, and warding. Great for powering tools.
Rain Water: This is very multi-purpose, but especially great for growth and rebirth spells. Great for spells that you want to keep gaining power over time.
Snow Water: Great for spells and rituals that focus on purity, endings and change, as well as slow working spells.
Dew Water: I recommend this for love and fertility spells, as well as delicate magic. Great if you’re going to do fae work.
Aphrodite Glamour Water 💋
This glamour spell is one of the few that I use, and I can say that it’s worked for me quite well. Be careful, though. You may attract unwanted attention.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
a jar
water
rose petals (optional)
vanilla essential oil (optional)
red or pink candle (optional)
STEPS:
💋 Pour the water inside the jar you wish to use.
💋 Put in your ingredients that you chose to use. As you put them in, visualize how you want people to look at you. If you want to be confident, visualize yourself being confident. If you want romantic or sexual attention, visualize yourself getting that. Whatever you want, just visualize yourself attracting it.
At this point, if you wish to use a candle, now is the time to pour your intentions into it & light it. If not, that’s fine. You can also call upon deities who correspond to love at this moment.
💋Stir the liquid clockwise so that it’s moving towards you. As you do so, continue to visualize your desired outcome.
💋 After that, it’s all done. You can leave it out by the window and allow the moon the charge it up. If you chose to light a candle, let it burn down.
WAYS TO USE IT:
♡ Dab some on your face before you leave the house in the morning. ♡ Put some on your face before you put any makeup or skin products on. ♡ You can use it in love spells by replacing the water with an oil of your choosing and anointing a pink or red candle with it, preforming the spell the same way. ♡ If you wear makeup, pour a little bit in a little cap of some sort and dab your makeup brushes in it to dampen the brush before you apply any eyeshadow or powder of any kind. ♡ If you want a specific person’s attention, you can dab some on a picture of them or drop a little bit where you know they will walk. ♡ Use it as an offering for deities corresponding to love, depending on your intention.
📚💡Stay Strong and Carry On Study Spell✏🦁
This is a simple spell yet effective tarot spell I came up with to help me power through homework but you can use it to trudge through any mundane or unsavory task.
Supplies:
A Candle- the color should either be your personal power color (such as red, black or purple) or in a color corresponding to your intent (such as blue for homework or thinking problems, orange for doing housework or green for working on finances)
A Quartz Point- you could use a crystal that corresponds to your intent, but quartz has amplifying powers which is why I chose it. Please use a point for this as it will be what directs the energy to you.
The Chariot and Strength cards from your favorite tarot deck (if you don’t have a tarot deck, you can easily find images of the cards on the internet & print them out)
Method:
Find a place to do your spell that will be easily visible to you while you are working on your task. This will serve as a visual reminder if you forget you are supposed to be working on something or get distracted, AND being close enough to the cards, candle, and crystal to absorb their energy is important.
Prop up the Strength and Chariot cards so that they are facing you. I do this by sticking them in between the bottom & the cover of my open tarot box (see image below if you don’t know what I mean). Tarot cards have innate power and this is what fuels the spell.
Place your candle in front of the cards, so that they will be illuminated by the flame. Make sure to put your candle far enough away from the cards so they don’t accidentally catch on fire- a couple inches should do.
Quartz is an amplifying crystal, and points are used for directing energy. place this in front of the candle, pointing towards you to direct the energy of the cards and the candle to you.
Finally, light your candle, saying something like “Stay strong and carry on.” as you do so. Keep the candle burning as long as you need to keep working. You can light additional candles if you need to, or use a large candle if you are working on a large project. Don’t forget to extinguish the flame if you leave the room or are taking a break (you can re-light it when you come back), and always practice basic fire safety.
And that’s it! Happy studying,
Madame C.
