May we all finish one race as happily as Jessica Hull.
Rough patches in sports can feel like opening your heart to someone who doesn’t love you back.

Friendly Reminder
While you may love to run, you are not defined by your running.
Your value as a person has nothing to do with your PRs or your last workout or your next race. Nothing whatsoever.
Running should add to your life, not detract from your self worth.
i miss being good at running lol
this is picking up notes again so let me correct myself because i’m so beyond attaching value to my running abilities. you know what i miss? enjoying running. i miss loving it. i miss having running as a best friend, as therapy. as something that made me love myself, not something that reminded me of my inadequacies. i miss the love i had before it broke me again and again & reduced me to failures and timed measurements of my value as a human being. i don’t care if i’m ever good at running again. i just want to love it.
You don’t realize how much running means to you until you can’t.
honestly i am constantly falling out of and back in and back out of and back in love with running.
i am trying SO unbelievably hard to love running again.
“you approached like it was heavy, so it was.”
i associate this quote most with…RUNNING, and workouts, and races. approach them feeling light and excited and with the belief that you have worked hard to run fast.
i am not kidding you i LIVE BY this quote. running, school, relationships, everything. if you believe it’s going to be hard, you’re probably right
If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started I was desperately wishing to be where I am now.

man do I miss running fast
Nothing in my life has ever broken my heart the way running has. And yet I cannot breathe without it.

Do it for her.
She loved running.
She loved tuesday night practices at the track on Grand Ave.
She loved being the anchor in the boys relays.
She loved her first pair of racing spikes when she was 9.
She loved making people proud.
She loved feeling like she could be good at something.
Imagine quitting on that little girl you were.. with big dreams and expectations.
She wouldn’t give up.
Do it for her.
