grateful grateful grateful (for miles, trees, sunshine)
I just slipped hard in the horse pasture. Lying on the ground in the snow, wind knocked out of me, I see Pinkman take off towards the house like sewer rat Lassie. Wow, I think to myself, what an incredible animal! She is going to bring me help! I am so lucky to have her!
A minute later Pinkman returns. She places a tiny tennis ball in my actively bleeding hand, and prances beside me begging me to throw it as I drag my wretched flesh prison back up to the house alone.
See how fast I move next time you get your head stuck in the dishwasher rack, PINKMAN
things that made me stop wanting to die that require no effort whatsoever
change the color used to highlight text on your laptop
move the pictures on your wall
stack whatever clutter is in your room into piles even if you donāt have time to clean it all
slightly vary your commute, even just by one street
change where you sit and scroll aimlessly on your phone even if itās only to the chair in your room instead of your bed
drink water or juice out of a wine glass in the morning because nothing is real
shower with the lights off, without music
buy $3 flowers at trader joeāsāthey look bad next to the more expensive ones but they look so good in your room
start typing things you donāt post into your notes. your thoughts can be worth documenting even if you donāt deem them worth sharing
wake up super early just once. you donāt have to make it a habit itās just extra satisfying to go to bed that night
listen to the entirety of your favorite album from 2015
Almost all of these are about variety. Humans need stimulation! We need enrichment! We literally cannot do the same thing every day!
The other day I was feeling miserable, so I hopped on a bus and rode it all the way back to where Iād started, and my brain, which had finally had some proper stimulation via new environments, was suddenly ready to go again!
This is why taking walks/drives and trying new hobbies are good for you! Donāt turn yourself into a sad zoo animal! You need some pumpkins to roll around in your enclosure!
When something really really really matters to you, LET IT GO! Say to the Universe: āYou know what I want. Give it to me in the path of least resistance. Give it to me the easiest way possible. Give it to me in any way I can get it!ā

want a shirt that says YOU SHOULD FEEL VISCERALLY VIOLATED BY THE UNSTOPPABLE CORPORATE ENCROACHMENTS ON YOUR ATTENTION SPAN, BY THE FACT THAT YOU STARTLE LIKE A TRAINED ANIMAL AT EVERY NOTIFICATION, BOTH OVERSTIMULATED AND BORED, LETHARGIC AND JUMPY, WAITING FOR THE NEXT BIT OF VALIDATION WITH THE SAME SICKLY EXCITEMENT AND FEAR AS A GAMBLER AT THE TABLE
āShe has the feeling, all her life, that she never makes sense. There is something else, big and dark, at the edge of what she knows, she cannot say. She always has the feeling she is translating into broken english. Language all her life is a second language, the first is mute & exists.ā
