What do you think of the term "puck bunny"?
Ugh.
I understand the term, but really people, who cares who bangs who?
In all honesty, I think one of the reasons fans freak out about puck bunnies/puck sluts/etc is this idea that these girls don't deserve the sex or relationship with or friendship of a player if they don't understand the sport they play.
As fans, we're more invested in our favorite teams and our favorite players. Somehow this is translated into the minds of some as being worthy friends or partners, while others who can't tell you the difference between icing at the rink from icing on a cake are undeserving.
NEWSFLASH: It's quite possible players might like to date someone who -gasp- doesn't follow hockey that intently (or at all) because it gives them something else to think about when they get home at the end of the day. The sport is literally their life. They've been working for years to get to where they are. They train during the summers and miss big milestones with their families and are gone from their home lives for days at a time. They go to practice just about every day they're not playing in a game. They don't get to eat a bunch of junk food or skip workouts or take vacations because their career pretty much controls every aspect of their lives during the season.
Do you really think they want to talk hockey non-stop when they get home? I wouldn't. Shoot, once I'm a doctor, I'd rather marry a teacher than another physician. That way we come home and we talk about his students and my patients over the dinner table.
So stop getting angry because your favorite player's girlfriend doesn't have his junior stats memorized like you do. They can choose who they wish to date just like you can, and if they decide to date someone who fits your idea of a "puck bunny," that's none of your business. Because you're just a fan.

are some of you actively looking for things to be annoyed about
I guess I'll give my unsolicited opinion on this whole Wings twitter thing.
Facts:
They followed up the original "aspire to greater things" tweet with a tweet admonishing a guy for calling her a slut.
They followed up that tweet with saying that both men and women need to recognize a woman's value beyond her physical appearance.
The girl tweeted at the Wings' official account.
The girl used the puckbunny hashtag.
Opinion: I don't see it as slut-shaming/soapboxing/whatever on the Wings' part. The girl tweeted something at the official Wings account to get a response. (What other reason would she have for directly mentioning them?) She got a response.
What everyone else did beyond what the Wings tweeted is not the Wings' responsibility. The Wings account did not .@ tweet her so that it would show up in everyone's timeline. Someone went into their responses, found it, and ran with it.
Finally, we don't know exactly what the "aspire to greater things" meant. My guess (and only my guess, before anyone freaks out on me or the Wings) is that, coupled with their women's-value-beyond-physical-appearance tweet, it was meant as, "aspire to greater things than just marrying a man with a lot of money". Like go become a teacher or a doctor or a housewife or an interior designer or an engineer, if that's what you want. But don't reduce your value to attracting a wealthy athlete.
We'll miss you!
man, i don’t think i’ll ever get over this picture.
This just epitomizes winter in Northern Michigan for me.
My family goes snowmobiling every year between Christmas and New Year's. We go on all these night rides to high points around the area and shut off our machines and on a clear night we just wait for all the stars to appear.
I've been out on frozen lakes like this, on snowmobiles and just walking. It's seriously one of the coolest things ever.

(Queueing this so technically it's last night but whatever.)
Tonight is one of those nights I remember why I simultaneously love and hate writing. I can do great descriptions of emotions, places, and events, but I fail so hard at writing dialogue. Also the most and best of my writing gets done at ungodly hours of the night.

go anon and say whatever you'd like to me.
So I nearly broke my ankle carrying a 5-gallon bucket of paint today.
And then I nearly went deaf removing wood window trim with a hammer and crowbar.
Agh.
Good thing Lundqvist's elite status isn't determined by your (very wrong) opinion, it's provable by statistics. He's good whether you think he is or not.
"This is how we started back home in Sweden. I didn’t have a rink until I got seven. So holidays, Christmas, or Easter we did some ice fishing and we skated around on lakes. Having the chance to do this as a job over here, playing in the best league in the world. It’s special and it’s something that, when you were younger, you wished for and you dreamt about. It’s been special to live through it."
