This fandom never ceases to entertain. Which, I guess can be a blessing at this time when there will be a dearth of new shows or films because of COVID-19.
I think we can firmly establish that Lili can buy her own home in the Hollywood Hills. Since she started on Riverdale, she has been one of the most marketable young stars in the entertainment business and has a major contract with CoverGirl in addition to her acting roles and photoshoots with major fashion magazines. She is definitely a multimillionaire at this point. Cole, too, can buy his own home in the Hollywood Hills, because that Disney money wasn’t anything to sneeze at and since his return to acting, has not lacked for work and he’s also a pretty accomplished fashion photographer to boot. But both Cole and Lili have stated on more than one occasion that although they’re in a relationship, they are individuals and want to have their own voice. Their relationship doesn’t define them and that’s partly why, for a long time, they didn’t go public with their relationship.
Lili has already publicly stated that she bought a house. The interview in which Lili stated she recently purchased a house never intimated that Lili and Cole bought the house together or that Cole bought the house for Lili. As a matter of fact, her relationship isn’t even mentioned. So where is Amy coming from with her IG story in which she stated, “Psst...it’s 2020. Women can buy their own damn houses”? Is she engaging with fans who are asking whether Lili and Cole bought the house together?
It’s just entertaining to me that much of the drama in this fandom surrounding Cole and Lili over the last few months is seemingly wrapped around Amy, her unfollowing Cole on IG, the statements she’s made when death threats and address leaks started happening, etc. It almost seems to me that she may have started enjoying her fan interactions a little too much although those weren’t really her fans; they’re just wanting content on Cole and Lili. I know she loves her daughter. There is no question there. And I know she has just wanted to show support for Lili in any way she can. She just may be flying too close to the sun with how much she’s engaging with Lili’s fans. Time to step back, Amy, and let Lili create her own narrative. She speaks well enough for herself.
And if I would be so bold as to quote Mr. Sprouse to emphasize this narrative of being individuals even within a relationship:
“To love one’s self while being in love. To seek validation of your spirit in another, while honoring a confidence of self. To be true to one’s self in the sacrifice of compromise. A little Tuesday give and take.”
