Although they were getting older now, it was far from the first time this year that Tweek had appeared at Craigs place at all times of the day and night. Sometimes he would stay, sometimes he would just say hi to Craig and leave. Sometimes he was a mess and didnt know where home was anymore. 

Craig was somehow there through it all, in his own way. Tweek knew that people thought their friendship weird, and often didn’t think many good things about Craigs behavior and way of life in general, but Tweek thought he was just right the way he was. Just right to be Tweeks friend. 

When he blinks his eyes open, his first thought is that he needs some coffee. It always is. He wriggles his toes, remembering that he had went through the streets on bare feet last night, before he finally gets up. The blanket stays wrapped around his shoulders, like a sad parody of a cape as he makes his way down the stairs in search for his best friend. 

Craig stays on the couch, and even makes it through a few episodes of this weird kid’s show. He thinks it’s about anthropomorphic animals fighting crime in outer space. Whatever it is, he can zone out to it while he wakes up. He also manages to sneak a cigarette by the window before his friend is awake. 

He’d very quickly become used to Tweek’s presence. Over the years he’d stopped questioning it, and rather began embracing the nurturing, protective side of himself that not many people knew he had. There was always room for Tweek in his life, no matter how things changed. 

Hearing Tweek coming down the stairs, Craig looks back behind the couch, ready to greet him. 

“Good morning, sleepyhead,” he offers, a calming tone in his voice. “Coffee is already made. D’You sleep alright?”

Tweek couldnt just sleep then, but his thoughts slowly calmed until they were almost silent. Just a few random memories and ideas circling around his head. It was as close to sleep as he would get after a nightmare like this. 

The sun is already rising by the time he falls asleep again, twitching even in his sleep, mumbling and making noises every few minutes. Even when he was asleep he was never really calm, never really relaxed. But it was better here, he felt safe enough for the nightmares not to return.

He slept quietly and heavily just as usual, finally waking up an hour or so after the sun came up. Or so he assumed. He could hear his guinea pigs causing a ruckus in their cage on the opposite side of the room. He would have to clean the cage later on that day. He rolled onto his back and immediately noticed Tweek’s presence, rubbing his eyes and letting out a long sigh. He had no recollection of the other joining him in bed, but he was used to that at this point. 

Craig went through the motions, moving very slowly as he left the bed. He knew Tweek needed the sleep, so he would do his best to let him. He made sure he at least had a shirt on, that the pigs were fed, and the curtains were closed before moving back to the bed to tuck the other in a little more. He even smiled to himself, admiring him for a brief second as he brushed a bit of fallen hair out of Tweek’s face. He didn’t let himself hover for too long, because there was a bowl of cereal in the kitchen just calling to him. 

He made sure the door made no more than a soft ‘click’ when closing it , and padded to the kitchen. He set up the coffee pot and prepared his breakfast, plopping on the couch to make his way through whatever cartoon marathon was playing on the TV that morning.

Tweek had come here in his pyjama pants and a thin shirt, so he was quite happy to actually slip beneath the covers. Sometimes - or most of the time really- his common sense just didn’t work when his fears and general his frantic thoughts had tied him up again. 

He shuffles a few times, toes curling, knees lifting towards his chest until he was not much more than a small ball, blond hair peeking out from beneath the blanket. “ Thanks. “

Craig let the blanket fall over Tweek’s body, wasting no time in turning over. He shifted around as well, but not nearly as much. Just a few tiny movements until he was comfortable, legs bent just slightly and arms curled in towards his chest, ready to fall back asleep. 

He hummed back a small affirmative, eyes closing once again. Tweek’s presence would probably register more with him in the morning.

“ Can I sleep here tonight ? “

Tweek whispers, because he is certain he can’t get Craig out of bed for his fears and panic, also he isn’t quite sure if he really wants to. He might not be able to sleep tonight, but if he could just stay here for a bit to teach his own body how to breath and think clearly again that was all he needed.

There was a long silence, Craig still trying to sort out his thoughts and come up with something that made sense. Eventually he gave a soft nod accompanied by an, “Okay.” He shifted over to the far side of the bed, moving pillows around, lifting up the opposite end up the blanket. 

“C’mon, get in.” He didn’t mind, really. As long as he would get to sleep eventually.
