Welcome to Devil's Gate
The city of Devil’s Gate has always made their money through their seaports, shipping goods and services to other parts of the country as well as worldwide. Their shipping distributors have remained unmatched in quality and efficiency for decades, and it brought new life in waves. As both a coastal hub and a mountain hideaway, the small town began to catch the eye of those who hadn't known of its existence before, its secrecy and its high traffic serving for many. Flooded with people and businesses alike, the sleepy seaside city soon became a bustling attraction drawing more attention each day—for better and for worse. New developments have taken Devil’s Throat by storm and brought in even more people seeking new opportunities. Mysterious figures began taking up residence in the shadows, drawing in unseen forces with them as they assumed their silent control of the city and its inhabitants. While the average human is unaware of the power game being played beneath their feet, those that have had the wool ripped from their eyes bear witness to a sinister reality unfolding before them. Some make it out in one piece. Others… well, they can only hope to see the sun one last time before all is lost.
Who are we?
We are a 18+ semi-literate (or more!) role play server always looking for new people to join us! There are places for long form (750+ character) posts as well as options for phone and text RP. There multiple server wide plots and regular events, although there is plenty of room to come up with personal character driven plots!
Supernatural Species:
We currently offer 5 playable species, and are working on adding more as the server grows! All of them are inspired by their myths, but with a unique twist and selection of powers. Stop into the server to learn more!
Human: Self explanatory Siren: Creatures that are able to shift between a human form and a sea creature and one should always be weary of their song. Demon: Creatures of Fire, they can mask to a human form as long as they don't let their rage get to them. Vampire: Sustained by blood these creatures stalk the night and can be unfathomably old Lycan: Wolfmen bound to the cycle of the moon. They may look human most of the time but never lose that supernatural strength.
We can't wait to see you there!

The funniest thing I have read tonight
I honestly thought the President of the United States using the Department of Justice to potentially take away an opposition party's ability to fundraise for elections would have gotten more attention.
You've been a Good cast-iron pan. Let Mommy take care of you... I'm going to Rub Oil all over you and Bake you at 230°C and you're going to like it... Badly behaved Pans go into the dishwasher and get Scrubbed with a Metal Sponge.

Does anyone know where I can get it together
the thing about capitalism is that at a certain point a product reaches its maximum audience and cant really be improved (at least not while remaining profitable), but capitalism requires a product provide infinite growth, and at that point the only way to increase profits is to raise prices, cut corners, and in the case of services start adding advertisements. this is just how the system works.
Rent-seeking is the act of growing one's existing wealth by manipulating the social or political environment without creating new wealth.[1] Rent-seeking activities have negative effects on the rest of society. They result in reduced economic efficiency through misallocation of resources, reduced wealth creation, lost government revenue, heightened income inequality,[2][3] risk of growing political bribery, and potential national decline.
The actual economic term for this parasitic behavior is "Rent Seeking", as in "charging you rent for things that didn't used to cost money just because we can."
"The classic example of rent-seeking, according to Robert Shiller, is that of a property owner who installs a chain across a river that flows through their land and then hires a collector to charge passing boats a fee to lower the chain. There is nothing productive about the chain or the collector, nor do passing boats get anything in return. The owner has made no improvements to the river and is not adding value in any way, directly or indirectly, except for themselves. All they are doing is finding a way to obtain money from something that used to be free." obtain money links to the wikipedia article for Parasitism which might be the most brutal diss I've ever seen on wikipedia ever
good post. jesus be judging rent-seeking >>>:(
