Here’s all the backgrounds and character color reference for Piteenchio!

With these I really wanted to capture a UPA vibe to the colors and backgrounds, especially when it came to using the color to enhance the mood. I wanted them to be simple, but charming. 

I also included an ad I made for the short when I was bored, idk its fun!

Heres a bunch of concept art and development art for my animated short, Piteenchio!

For this short, it really started by just doodling the characters and then the story and plotting came with it. It’s always a lot of fun trying to have a story come together thru doodles in my sketchbook as oppose to going in with a script. The script wasn't even figured out till i was halfway thru animating it. I knew there were certain beats I wanted to hit, but besides that a lot of different ideas were thrown around. Originally, after the ending I wanted to cut back to Gepetto with his perfect son, which was just a puppet version of him, and maybe his puppet wife, who again just looked him but it felt unnecessary. The story was done with the killing of Piteenchio.

If you cnt tell, its so much fun doodling Gepetto, he’s just super rubbery so his face can look nuts, but has enough design staples so you know who it is.

Working on a new lil cartoon about Pinocchio as a teenager. It’s gonna be goofy and fun!

A long overdue drawing for my buddy Colin. I met him back in 2016 when he offered to do the music for my Senior Film. Since then we’ve continued to work together professionally and on personal projects. Literally one of the nicest guys around, he did the music for my short “Skater Baby” for small fee and an icon. He crushed it!

This year i’m really into vibrant colors, like even more than usual. we’ll see how that goes
