Brigitte pauses with the heaping forkful of pie ( and the fork itself ) shoved in her mouth. Blinking owlishly across the table at Zarya, she kind of stares for a moment-- bewildered. It must be comical to watch the way she finally tries to swallow the buttery, flaky, fruity mixture all at once because she chokes a little before managing to get it down. Coughs, too.

Reaching across the space, she lays a big hand on a bigger biceps and pats reassuringly. “You don’t have to save me. That’s what I’m out there for-- to save you. If you worry about me, it will just distract you from your own objective.”

The young Swede has so enjoyed getting to know Zarya. And not just for the fact that Zarya can match her in the gym. And not just for the fact that they can bunk down like this after the gym and eat and eat and eat. Zarya’s a cool person. Brigitte admires her.

She winks, grinning at the older woman.

“I got you.”

Arm in a sling but no real worse for the wear save for a dislocated-and-relocated, bruised nose, Brigitte shrugs one broad shoulder. She feels good-- accomplished. They really made some progress out there, and it had been a total team effort. Maybe... this is what Overwatch was supposed to feel like all those years ago. Maybe this is what it was supposed to have been.

Maybe they’re doing it now.

( She just has to work on not charging into the fray after people to save them. According to Reinhardt, anyway. Not that he’s looking much better than she is. )

Dark eyes slide up and down the lumbering Crusader’s battered body. She’s all smiles because they both know where she gets it from-- that oft-mistaken-for-recklessness during battle.

“Don’t you, old man?”
