“Tainted Ribbons”

An art piece I made the other day. I found some work for an old project that I never used.

Admittedly, I am against war but I have upmost respect for our troops and believe they deserve better both overseas and once they return.

Overall, I wanted a gritty feeling to the piece. I made the splatter accents bright yellow to symbolize the yellow ribbons we wear. Mainly the idea that wearing ribbons does not mean they spill less blood. While I understand the support ribbons it feels so futile compared to what the soldiers are being faced with.

I have shown the soldiers made of gears to demonstrate how they have become part of the war machine. That appears to be what The American economy and society is based on

“The Adventures of Eman and Miles”

Another one from the archives, this was gift for my Dad Christmas ‘13.  Shown with the inspiration photo.

I came up with the idea around the 22nd and worked on it into the wee hours of the 24th.  My sister totally came through and got it printed and laminated in time for opening presents Christmas Day.

Multistep process of: 1. Frantic internet searching 2. Drawing rough characters 3. Trace, new layer, trace, new layer trace....repeat 4. Scan Layers and combine in Illustrator 5. Move Characters and lettering into Photoshop, (research) and then apply 60s color palette to poster.

I’m pretty proud of this one. (Obviously, this is not for sale nor did I make any profit from this.)
