I haven't used this blog in a while since there's only so many dividing questions you can ask a fandom about a 15 year old cartoon. Also I've lost interest in said cartoon so...

This is something a little more serious.

If you are a minor, under no circumstances should you talk to "tauriatalksmonkeys/ladytauria" "hey-erika" or "monkeymindscream"

They are proshippers who do not have your safety in mind.

(Proshippers advocate for freedom of shipping, but focus on freedom to ship pedophilia and incest. Often are pedophiles themselves. Either that or misguided victims. I don't care to differentiate, since they both hurt minors with this.)

Yes the art is amazing. Yes the fanfic is captivating. Yes the cosplay is fantastic. Yes the proship belief hasn't publicly interfered with this fandom in particular.

But you do not want to risk your safety with these people. Block and forget about them. Yes they might be fine but when they align themself with people who are not fine, it is not good.

Ladytauria literally has "proshipper" in her description and they all reblog from proship blogs. I followed for monkey team content and got people complaining about a 15 year old being uncomfortable.

If you are an adult, I trust you to make the smart decision about talking to these three. It's your own risk.

I, personally, am going to orphan this blog after making this post. I like petty arguments about cartoons but I can't fucking stand when the safety and boundaries of children are put into question.

What is the pattern in naming ships in this fandom? Certain characters that end up second, or first.

I’ve thought about this before, actually, and I was curious enough about it to whip up this handy visual aid! The colors help a lot.

(I actually don’t know the names of three of the ship combinations, what is the most commonly used? help?)

Gibson’s name is always first! Nova’s name is always last. Otto’s name can be either first or last depending on who he’s with. Mandarin’s name can be either first or last depending on who he’s with. Antauri’s name is usually last, but in Antova’s case, his name is first because Nova’s is always last. Sparx’s name is usually first but in Gibarx’s case, his name is last because Gibson’s is always first.

It’s really all the same kind of rules as ship naming has in other fandoms - it all depends on where the vowels are placed in the names and how the two names can be phonetically mashed together?

*TAKES DEEP BREATH* -Friends to lovers is the best type of romance. Period. I will fight people on this. Or maybe I’m just super demisexual so I can’t see dating someone who isn’t my best friend. Whatever. It’s the best. (I don’t actually wanna fight people lol but you can’t change my mind) - Nova and Sprx both struggle with their emotions and expressing them openly, which they both work through during the series, and their relationship with each other plays a major role in that. - I know these days more shows are being subversive and a lot of their creators are like “yeah i kinda got sick of every team-of-action-heroes show needing romantic subplots but you know what???? I’m a sap??? And kinda miss when all the team-of-action-heroes shows had cute romantic subplots??? I just think they’re neat. - They just both REALLY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER??? Like, I recently answered an anon about that little exchange during Wormhole that tends to get overlooked because of EVERYTHING ELSE but was so important? In fact, Wormhole like…. yes, there’s episodes of SRMTHG that have more ROMANCE for spova, but Wormhole REALLY sells the underlying friendship they have. Sprx was willing to risk his life to save her and said without a shadow of a doubt that she would do the same for him. “Glad to have you as my friend” may have felt like a big “oof” in Belly of the Beast but it also fit, because those two episodes in particular showed the strength of the friendship that underlies their feelings. - They’re basically Han Solo and Princess Lea as monkeys except they also spent decades as friends first, so it’s even better. That’s right, I’m saying Spova is better than the main Star Wars canon ship. I make no apologies.

- This may be a bit besides the point for fans who are getting into the show these days, but let’s be real: Part of what made spova so popular back in the day was, IMHO, also how fun it was to be in the spova fandom as the show aired, shipping it, losing our minds over every little hint and moment they had, making lots of fanwork and speculating together. - This is just a few things off the top of my head as someone VERY OVERDUE for a rewatch I LOVE THEM!!!!!
