          she can’t help but roll her eyes as soon as she hears the theme song playing in the background. a small laugh escapes past her lips & ana shrugs her shoulders before squinting her eyes. ❛ yes because re-watching the office is considered being productive. ❜ she knows the other is joking which was something she used to struggle with. when they first met she always just assumed that he was being serious, but now she knows that it’s just kai being kai. the girl nods her head & claps happily before she decides to wait outside his door. once he comes through she follows close behind & grabs her purse on the way out, ❛ hm, not sure ! how about i leave that up to you ? since you are coming with me. ❜

          he walked down the hallway with her and headed towards the elevator. “okay, you’re gonna think i’m weird but hear me out. one time at work i was bored so i made a pizza, right? but it wasn’t an ordinary pizza, no. i sprinkled bacon and jalapeño bits on the sauce before i put the cheese on. it was fucking amazing,” kai said, practically drooling at the thought of it. “so i’d like that, please and thank you.”

 elle got up from where she was laying on the couch and she walked over to the counter she leaned over to look at the receipt. “what the hell..? seriously, people are the worst. i’m sorry, kai. do you want me to go beat someone up?”

kai let out a light laugh. “i’m not entirely sure you could beat anyone up, elle. you’re like, one of the least intimidating people i know. but you offering means a lot, truly.”

“you’re so dramatic.” the word left stella’s lips slowly, drawled out with a smirk. “i wish i had a drink for every time you threatened to quit tonight. then i’d be drunk instead of bored.” her sandaled foot skimmed across the top of her gym bag as she propped herself up in her chair, elbows on the table to get a better look at the subject of kai’s annoyance. “she sounds like a bitch. i bet she has ugly highlights. bet if you point her out to me next time i can make her cry about it.” her fingers find the back of his palm, trace up to his forearm, absentminded outlines over the ink on his skin. “now, can we go? it’s been, like, twenty years. leo won another oscar in the time it took for you to finish this shift.” stella’s last lesson on wednesdays aligned almost perfectly with kai’s work schedule, and she’d made a habit of waiting for him, limbs stretched and sore from the extra hour of practice she’d stolen for herself after all her students had left. “twenty five cents won’t get you very far at a liquor store. you’re so fucking lucky i’m here.”

“stella, what did i tell you about making people cry? i won’t allow it,” kai said, crumbling up the receipt and tossing it into the garbage. “besides, i’m all ready over it. you know i can’t hold a grudge, no matter how hard i try.” he made a show of untucking his work shirt before clocking out, then grabbing his car keys. “twenty years?” he repeated, throwing a smirk at her. “now who’s the dramatic one?” he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the restaurant. “oh, are we drinking and watching hart of dixie, tonight? can we take a shot every time lavon hayes refers to himself in the third person?”

eyes widen at the noise, squinting at the words written in what seemed to be nearly illegible. “i mean, can’t you sue them or something?” addie didn’t know exactly how tattoo parlor’s worked, but figured it wasn’t too far off from anything else. “i read somewhere that someone gave a one dollar tip and so the person sued and won..” she shrugged, leaning back in her chair and looking up at kai. “you can try that. or, alternatively, just drink something n’ calm down.”

“shit, that actually happened?” kai asked, eyebrows raised. “i’d be all for it if i wasn’t living off aforementioned tips.” he chuckled, already letting the situation go. he wasn’t one to stay mad about things for long. “i’m thinking maybe just a drink will do for tonight,” he said. he grabbed a glass out of the cabinet then hesitated before he closed it, glancing at addie. “you want anything?”

         “you think i wanna be here?” kai asked from his seat on the counter. he glanced around at the place, empty except for a customer or two. “i’d definitely rather be watching netflix. although, i can literally quote the entire second season of the office so i’m thinking it’s time for a new show. what’ve you been watchin’?”

         ❛ kai ? ❜ she drags on the boys name while she looks around the apartment wanting to find the other. ana was responsible for the grocery shopping most days. yet for some reason she didn’t want to go alone. she knocks on the bedroom door before cracking it open, enough for her  head to pop in, ❛ kai– i’m going to the store to pick up a few things.. will you please go with me ? ❜ she questions with a smile in hopes that it’ll be enough for him to agree. ❛ i’ll cook dinner for all of us tonight if you do ? ❜     /     @srslykai !

       the office theme song blared from his TV speakers as kai laid on his bed, one arm behind his head and the other outstretched, holding his phone and scrolling through various social media platforms. out of the corner of his eye, he saw ana’s head and he grabbed the remote, muting the tv. “ana i am clearly very busy here, i can’t believe you even thought it’d be okay to come disturb me.” he looked at her seriously for a moment before cracking a grin. “just kidding, let me throw on a shirt and i’ll be ready to go.” he hopped up, found a tshirt lying on the ground and slipped it on. “all right, leggo,” kai said, walking out his bedroom door and heading towards the main door. he walked backwards to talk to her. “what’s on the menu tonight, chef?”

“would you look at this?” he slammed down the receipt he’d balled up earlier and flattened it on the counter, his tattooed fingers smoothing out the creased. he pointed to the subject of his anger. a measly twenty five cents was written on the tip line, followed by a tiny note that read your tattoos are very unprofessional, i spoke to the manager about this. kai let out a deep breath, trying not to get too mad all over again. “the bill was over a hundred dollars! and the best part? i talked to my manager about it and he just shrugged. shit like this makes me want to quit. god, i need a drink.”

ZAYN MALIK, 23, HE/HIM  —— HEY, DID I JUST SEE KAI ABIDI WALKING AROUND THE BLOCK? I HEAR THEY’RE FROM APARTMENT 21A AND THEY’RE AN ADULT WHO WORKS AS A WAITER UNTIL THEY MOVE OUT. THEY ALWAYS LOOK LIKE THEY’RE HIDING SOMETHING…BUT THEY’RE SO INTELLIGENT SOMETIMES I WONDER HOW THEY CAN BE IRRESPONSIBLE. THEY CERTAINLY CAN’T BE HIDING THEY RAN AWAY FROM HOME BECAUSE HIS FAMILY RUNS A DRUG CARTEL, CAN THEY? [JANE, 21, SHE/HER, EST]. 

his dad is from pakistan and his mom is from the US, his dad moved to the US to be with his mom where they had Kai in arizona

shortly after moving here, his dad started a drug cartel that basically would have been left in kai’s hands IF KAI DIDN’T RUN AWAY WHEN HE WAS 19 KNOWING HIS FATE !!! 

so he came to halston hoping to make a better life for himself also bc his family was never too great to him like his mom kind of ignored his existence and his dad could be a little rough

OH AND HE ALSO CHANGED HIS NAME it was originally KHALID VALI but he legally got it changed 

so he’s really private about his past like literally nobody knows about it

NOW he works as a waiter to make enough money to eventually send himself to school where he wants to study social work to eventually become a social worker to help kids in bad family situations
