Midsummer Fest improvements.

Okay. So after reading today’s patch notes, I started to make an extra salty post with some nice salt sprinkles on top. But instead of being a whiny bitch, I decided to do what I do best: Find ideas to improve things. here it goes Warning: May contain some salt still.

1: A Race.

THE MISSED OPPORTUNITY OF THE CENTURY. Having a race that goes through Moorland would have been so nice! WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THAT??? I WANNA RUN IN THE FIELDS AND STOMP ON FLOWERS. PLEASE.

2: A treasure hunt, on top of the flowers.

Okay so hear me out, I really like the flower wreath thing, and I want it to stay, but with most SSO events, we generally get a set of clothes and tack, like it happened for Halloween, galentines day, the anniversary and all that. I want the same thing here.  Since the game has a strong connection to druid, and generally magical stuff, i’m going to base myself on Litha, aka midsummer but a lil’ bit more “““religious”““  Please note that Litha is also celebrated by non-religious individuals and that it isn’t tied to one religion in particular, I just can’t find a more appropriate word, this is why I put so many quotes around it.

During Litha, people celebrate the longest day of the year, and many people do rituals and activities related to the sun. Why am I saying this?  We could collect Sun fragments, all across Jorvik, similar to how the Anniversary horseshoe hunt worked, and exchange them for rewards at that stupid tent that is literally useless. Seriously either do that or get rid of it. I don’t care about the DC guy. No one cares about it. Not even HE cares about himself. I thought about a flower hunt as this is also a very strong thing to do with Mid/Litha, but with the wreath it would be a little too many flowers, and could be very confusing.

This is just two ideas, but to me, that’s enough to make it interesting already. actually no I just ran out of things to say

Club Features I want to see in the game

Hello. it’s been a while, uh? I got kinda bored of the game for the past months, but the midsummer festival got me back into it, and you know what that means, right? MORE IDEAS BECAUSE MY BRAIN DOESN’T WANT TO SHUT UP. THIS TIME, IT’S CLUB RELATED. BECAUSE WHY NOT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN I’M LOUD? NO, I AM NOT SCREAMING AT ALL.

1. Gift giving Who doesn’t love recieving gifts? me. No but seriously, I think it would be nice to be able to give your friends and clubmates some gifts. From a ball of hay because they can’t afford any at the moment, to a shiny new saddle, I think this would be cool. To give a gift, you could simply have an interaction in the drop down menu when clicking on a player name, or there could be a gift slot in the letter window to send it through the mail. 

1. Club shop A shop, but just for clubs. In here, the Club owner could actually design a full outfit, as well as a tack set just for the club. We’ll take a saddle and a (human) headpiece as an example. You could pick the dominant color of the saddle, the seat color, stirrup colors, even the stitching and all the little details like that, using preset colors or a color wheel. There could also be some premade logos to use as patches for saddlepads and tshirts for example. For the headpiece, you could choose the shape from a preexisting one, like the flat top hat, or a helmet, or a cap... and, once again, choose the colors. Each piece would then be available in the club shop, and all the members and the owner could buy their brand new outfit. The pieces would be REASONABLY priced, and offer the choice between SC or JS for EACH AND EVERY SINGLE piece. (seriously, i’m begging you sso, stop asking me to sell a kidney each time you release something.) The club owner can make as many as 5 different sets in total, a.k.a 60 pieces (I think?), and can remove any pieces at anytime. Members would obviously keep the pieces that got removed. This way the owner could, for example, make several batches of tshirts with the members names in the back so that everyone can get their own.

3.Club arena

Pretty much self explanatory. An arena where club members could work or just hangout, possibly located in the Silverglade Acres since there’s plenty of empty space, with both an indoor arena and an outdoor arena (with sand, I like sand.). It could even be compatible with the Pose/Roleplay mode I talked about last time! 

4. Hide/Be hidden

Once again, self explanatory. Being able to hide all players except club members, and being hidden for eveyone except club members. To avoid the drama if some clubs still want to practice in the arena we have.

A feature I’d like to get:pose/roleplay mode

Hello all! You may not now (actually, no one knows as I never said it) that I’m a SUCKER for roleplay in games, especially in sso. This game is already quite rp friendly, with all the cafés and restaurants, the benches we can sit on, the shower in our stable, and maybe we can throw the dressage arena in there as well. 

But I’d like it to be pushed a little (actually a lot) further, by introducing a pose/roleplay mode. I’m calling it this way since it could be used for roleplay as well as taking pretty pictures. It could even be useful for clubs, as I’ll explain in a second.

Basically, you’d get a new icon on the top right part of the screen, next to the camera icon. By clicking on it, people around you fade away, just like it does with some shops, and you become invisible for other players, unless you enter it when in a group or with a new club button. When you are the club leader, you could get a new button on the screen with all the members, let’s call it “gathering” for now. If you enter the pose mode with an active club gathering or in a group, people in said clubs/gathering can see you while all the others fade away. They could also see the objects you place. I’m going to keep my explaining as a solo player unless stated otherwise.

So, going back to step one, you get into pose mode, and end up alone. What’s so good about this? 

well, nothing. BUT!

Once you are into pose mode, another icon will appear, this time on the top left corner. It’s just the same size as the other icons to not make it too distracting. when you click on it, you get a drop down menu, with categories, like characters, furnitures, clutter, horse models (decorative only, unless you place your own horses), jumps and other arena objects... etc. You can pick one, and it will be placed where your character is standing at the moment. For objects that intevitably have a front and a back, like the decorative horses, the head will be placed so it looks right where you are pointing at. characters and horses are animated, because what horse on earth stand perfectly still for an hour? You could pick from a selection of animations, going from a talking character, to laughing, to crying etc,to horses rearing or rolling....

With this, you can create some cool races, or place things on the floor for your dressage routine, like cones. You can create some nice jumping courses, and even some roleplay gathering by sitting down at a table with james and linda to drink a coffee. I would honestly love getting this. It may sound a bit cluttered as I’m putting it here, but I literally got this idea just now so uh, expected.

How buying horses with shilling could be possible

Hey all and welcome to another post of mine. Today I want to talk about horses, and more specifically, how we buy them. Now, people asking to be able to buy horses with shillings are not new at all. And many people response seems to be that, it’s not possible, that SSO’s team would loose a lot of money. And to that, I say, Yes, but actually no. Here’s what I have in mind to make it possible.

I went ahead to a stall to buy the most basic item of all: hay. A full haybale is sold for 500 Shillings, or 20 starcoins. Now, please note that I suck HARD at maths, and that I may be completely wrong on my calculations. But according to them, 1 shilling is 0.04 of a starcoin. that means that 25 shillings is 1 starcoin. Wich makes sense if we look at the single hay bit that is sold for 50 shillings, or 2 starcoins. (I didn’t saw that until later, so please don’t scream at me.)  

Most horses are sold for 950 SC, that equals to 23 750 JS. Wich seems like a reasonable price for a free horse. By free I mean we don’t have to spend actual money on them. 

For this to be possible, SSO would need to lift the Shillings limit. To make it a little more practical, let’s say that they lift it a 25 000. 

If you’ve been playing the game for a while, you know that getting 10 000 shillings, a.k.a the current limit, isn’t that fast. With all the trailer uses, or the suddent urge to buy a new saddle pad, it can take some time, Just imagine getting to almost 24000. I’m pretty sure it would take about a week, maybe more.

Now all of this is based on a basic conversion of shillings vs starcoins. SSO could actually make the price significantly higher, like 100 000 Shillings for example. If we add to this the starcoin only items like some tack and clothing, many people would still buy starcoins. Especially older players who doesn’t have that many, if any quests left to do aside from their daily training and horse care in all the available stables.

Another option i’ve seen floating around is a shilling to starcoin exchange system, but that wouldn’t be possible. As I said, some items are starcoin only and should remain like that. SSO devs are people who needs to put food on the table, and since the game is free to play, most of their income is from starcoin sales. If such a thing was ever put into the game, the sales would drop drastically. Their salaries would follow, and many devs would need to be kicked out of the team, as there simply isn’t enough money to pay them. That would mean that the game development would be slowed down a lot. 

note: They could limit the SC horse purchase to one horse/month to keep their SC income to about the same as now.

Character reworked in 2020?

Hi all! I hope all of you are starting 2020 the right way, if not, it’s okay, nothing is set in stone yet! 

It seems like a big portion of the game had a makeover during 2019 and before.. The new generation of horses and their tack, some areas being reworked, the Soul Riders and some other characters etc... Now it makes sense that our character would also get a glow up, right? It might not come this year, as this is a LOT of work. Getting a new character means, obviously new 3d object(s?), new texture, new animation, and so much more. But for the past couple updates adding clothes, the texture were closer than ever to the current game style. another thing that makes me think that this could be coming soon, is the shape of the latest saddles. The character we currently have literally doesn’t sit right in this saddle. Either we’re too tiny, or the saddles are too big. Another thing to note, is that some of the most recent hairstyles textures are the same as the reworked characters.  When it comes to how we wil look like, the new characters remind me alot of the sims mobile, so i’d expect something similar. Obviously I don’t think the character customization will be as deep as the sims, as SSO is not that type of game, but hopefully we’ll get more options that we can pick individually. As of now,when you create your character, you can only choose premade faces, and forget about the body type. What I’m hoping is that we will be able to choose eyes, lips, nose etc seperately, and at least 3 body types. AND PLEASE ADD MALE CHARACTERS FOR AIDEENS SAKE!

Carrotcake is the first Andalusian I ever bought. he’s a stallion, and loves apples. He seems to like hanging out in Jarlaheim a lot, especially if Linda is around. He’s got a soft spot for Concorde, and enjoy running around in the field with the kid.
