one day I'll actually sit down and figure out the lore I'll use for my Star Stable OC story/plot,
but that day won't be anytime soon.
what druid ritual do we need to do to resurrect ssoblr?
Okay, I'm gonna be digging into some old SSOblr lore because
Well, mostly. I was slightly late to the party.
So, in the olden days, there were various things SSOblr did to sustain and improve community engagement, and I do recall a few.
One activity was horse training meetups, usually hosted by @hobbithorsewhat when she was still active. A lot of people would meet and do a circuit of races across the map. It made doing an otherwise boring or lonely chore much more fun, and earned players a lot of money as a bonus.
Another was themed meetups. One that I remember assisting/hosting were the fox hunts. You can check these posts to see how that worked, but the TLDR was that it was a flavored form of hide and seek + tag.
One that was more casually planned was @dorianwolfforest 's dressing as hobbits in the snow. True to the theme, it was small, cozy, and plenty of shenanigans.
Another themed event of sorts was Jorvik's Greatest Trail. There were multiples of these across servers and groups. You can find lots of posts and videos for it as well. (I may even see if I can host one of these when the snow returns with its unique atmosphere, if I got a show of interested hands.)

If you are looking specifically for activities within tumblr, things related to OCs are likely among of the more engageable. People have an easier time talking about things they know well, and in this fandom, their own OCs fit that bill far better than anything else.
Ask singular questions in the SSO tags for others to answer if they wish. Isolated questions are easier for people have limited free time to dedicate to answering.
Alternatively/for those with more free time, find + reblog general OC ask memes and maybe some people will sent an ask, or at least rb from you, which in turn spreads it around SSOblr and helps the creativity and ideas flow.
Create a post for people to put their OC sheets or artwork in.
As an addition to that last idea, make a post of basic facts or story about your own OC as an invitation for other players to potentially interact with. Kind of casual roleplay, if you will.
I would also consult @windforestsso 's OC Map and see which blogs still look active enough to potentially interact with. That's what it was made for.
Speaking of roleplay-esque activities, there were a couple of events hosted relatively recently through @sso-oc-events that got quite a lot of engagement from what I can see. Did an event for the Midsummer and Rainbow Festivals at least. I'd love to see them continue that.

There is also the concept of SSO AUs. Which is on-theme since SSO itself has retro-ed a lot of its own story. But for all of its inconsistency and incompletion in story and theme, SSO has a wide enough range of base ideas that players can pick and choose what works for their OCs and discard what doesn't.
There's the ancient-but-looks-to-still-be-alive Wild West AU by @carina-go-lightlee
There's a newer one called the SSO Zombie Apocalypse AU by @yourhoeshorses
That's two off the top of my head, anyway. There are also Medieval AUs but I'm not sure if there are public ones yet, so maybe someone can set up the first of those. I can tell you it would be really popular during Halloween. ;)

Would any of these work nowadays? I don't know. But there's unlikely to be anything lost in trying. The fact that the SSO OC events did well last year at least suggests that the interest and willingness is still there. Just need a good enough incentive, and just as importantly, a return on that engagement.
π₯²ancientπ₯² that's real
still flabbergasted by the art and writing and eventual in-game festival event that came out of this AU. Somebody resurrect it for the new generation.
In summary re AI SSO slop

Opinion: The instant disappearing gift boxes are annoying asf for codes.
I wish starshine legacy continuations were a thing.. also a historical spinoff with a different incarnation of the soul riders sounds so damn cool

I'm suffering while working on sorting my closet out. WHY DID TEHY HAVE TO SCATTER EVERYTHING. *sobbing*
SSOBLR learning they have to reorganize their whole closet:
And to follow up my "let's consider one another's sides" post i will actually conversely and quite rudely Not forgive or forget some of the racist ass ignorant ass shit some of the people online (Including some of the popular bloggers on SSOBLR) made me read or said about me or my insights. i made many well informed, explained, and straightforward posts on the subject and some of the people on here blew me out of the FUCKING water, confidently, for no reason, hatefully, with 0 room or intention for us to have any meaningful discussion, and almost all of them were WHITE and WESTERNERS. like you can't be doing that shit and then saying sso wants you to DIE because they have DOUBLE STARCOIN WEEKENDS like smfh act like you have friends in real life that aren't all exactly like you. I beg. Act like human you sonofabitch
"i love a silly videogame made by rich white cishet man preying on kids fomo" -> "its ok for me to try shut down discussions on racism and invalidate and make fun of the views and experiences of ppl affected, bc i feel upset at the idea that a thing i like could contain racism that i didnt notice and id rather keep not noticing"

Danger Ranger aka "lets see If i can defy SSO damage hits to get photos." - Guess the horse for bonus points.
World shattering discovery on the Haunted Trail;
You know the "Crows" on the trail? They're actually all black void Seagulls.
PLEASE NOTE: I made these fan redesigns before SSO released or teased any of their magic Gen 3 Shires. This can be corroborated on my Instagram account. All of my old Whinfell redesigns together. This was the project that first got me into redesigning and conceptualizing SSO horse breeds. I think there are some elements I probably would have changed had I worked on these today, but I'm still very proud of how the finished concept turned out as a collaborative project between my clubmates and I.

to be perfectly honest i think that ghosts being transluscent and faded is kind of antithetical to what they represent. they're an echo that cannot move on, cannot fade out - they should be oversaturated and stiff and strangely out of place and unchanging, like something preserved in clear glass.
LIKE TOUCHING A HOT STOVE EXACTLY you understand me. and even when you refuse to look at them directly, you still register their presence in the periphery of your vision, burning bright enough to make your eyes water.
@jorvikzelda
Not to be a nostalgia grandpa but...I miss the time where you had to get the Christmas tree yourself and decorate it yourself in Silverglade, and I miss flying through Jarlaheim as 'Santa' and bringing people their gifts. I miss so many of the old events - especially the golden eggs during Easter. I really hope they'll bring those back eventually, but I doubt it.
oooooh no, you made me a nostalgic grandpa!! you made me remember it! those were such great events, filled with a whole different atmosphere. it's so nice to remember it, gosh. I even found some old screenshots (don't know why I took them, but now they take me back in time). It's just so cool
how does it even hold up
old Silverglade village and that Christmas tree... sniff
and these deer
found screenshot from an old Halloween event where you had to search for ghosts all over the island and the reward was masks. it was so simple but so much fun
that one video where a certain youtuber whitewashed Sabine and Jay still haunts me... STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!
feel however you want about their designs, idc, that's your problem, but that's no excuse to whitewash characters of color... and then make weird excuses later on
that one "what the Dark Riders could've looked like" video?? or am I wrong
