we need more shyan blogs in this place I feel like I keep checking the same 5 blogs (including yours) over and over again and when you guys don't post I'm bored as hell 💔
Hi I'm very flattered that I'm one of the blogs you check reguarly. If it helps, and to ease your boredom I can tell you that I mostly post on mondays and weekends ( monday is the podcast day and I have the early access of it dropping on my morning so I can tell what unhinged stuff they're up to this week, and fridays is when new video drops so people have time to watch and make a post about it, and usually they say something so out of pocket that I need to have it on my shipping blog.)
But I also encourage you to create your own blog and start posting in the tag. It doesn't have to be something life changing or thought provoking, I mostly just literally quote what they're saying and post #gay or make posts like "I think they should kiss" or "Have you guys thought that they might be in love". It's that easy. I started posting more because I wanted to read the content/postst I wanted to see, and here we are a year later with the tag being dominated by my silly shyan answers/meta/whatever you want to call it.
It might seem intimidating to start but I'm just literally a person with a sideblog that's very passionate about watcher and the boys maybe kissing in their spare time. I think there are more of us so if shyness is what stops you then the entrance level bar is nonexistent.
But also I'd like to play a devils advocate if you will and say that there are many reasons to why blogs aren't posting. The main one is that most of us especially rpf shyan blogs do it in our spare time that is after work/real life obligations/in our free time we go on tumblr and post about them being gay. That takes time and energy and you could consider that a hobby so if you see a blog "dying" and "inactive" then consider that there might be reasons like stuff happening in real life that prevents them from blogging even if they really wanted to like working their jobs or spending time with friends/loved ones. It is really true that the older you get the less free time you have especially in today's time where you need to support yourself in whatever way you can. So yeah some freaks still post on the clock (I salute all my multitasking hard working watcherinas), but some don't have time to do it. It doesn't mean that the fandom is dying, just that something more complicated than a text post takes a while to make.
Even my stupid screenshot posts which take one second to view is like at least 20minutes-1hr to screencap and save properly, so something more complicated like a gifset or a fanfic takes a lot of time, hours maybe days or weeks before you see them posted.
So like yeah I also think there should be more posting than just me but I understand when people don't bother with that. It takes time and energy when you really care about something and want it to be good.
There's also a thing like people changing interests/moving fandoms which is a pretty natural thing to happen (interests change over time we are all different people than we were in 2019 so I can't blame people who were here from the before watcher times changing their main interests, especially when shyan becomes more "boring" because there's not much to imagine about them compared to the bfu times). And also as much as I hate it the drama from last year made many people quit or at least be more casual about being a part of this fandom. And many were here to shoulder the hate of it so I don't blame them for not posting/quiting when some of the people that leave a like on your posts end up being racist freaks who hate Steven.
There's also the whole thing of fandom being divided into youtube only vs watcher tv subscribers and as a subscriber myself sometimes I'm like. Should I post the thing from behind the paywall or leave it be. There's spoilers to think of but also the fact when you see the best bits as screencaps on tumblr then are you likely to even watch the thing? That's a balance I still don't know how to keep, and most sweet shyan things happening are on like. Wtv livestream. So what do you do here?
So yeah it's not like I will stop posting. Every time I think "oh maybe I'm over it" they do something that keeps me coming back here and post even more, so I will keep going. But I encourage others to do it too if you want. And understand that as much as we'd love to be paid for having phd in shyan and posting all day this is a hobby that we do in our free time and don't get paid for it so there are other things that need our attention as well.
