"dragonstone isn't large enough to lose oneself on. in the very worst scenario, we ride for a day and we'll be back at the castle."

he watches you untie the drawstring on the satchel sewn to your belt, reach your fingers in to rummage around. "we can camp!” you chirp, producing a little honey cake, wrapped in parchment.
he takes it, still glowering at you, “i’ve let your soft heart get me into situations that i wouldn’t be led into any other way.” he turns his head, clicking his teeth to lead his horse forwards, biting into the cake.
you ride for hours, watching the white streak on the back of valarr's head, the sun setting over the treeline. it's the fortune of the gods that an inn appears in the clearing, smoke lazing from the stone chimney.
"valarr!" you yip, wagging your finger in the direction of the little wooden cabin. "look, look!"
he sits up, drawing out of his slouched, dejected posture. a little smile pulls at his mouth, and he nods approvingly. "come along then," he nods towards the inn. "a warm bed is far more than i hoped for."
forty dragons gets the two of you a room with two beds and two hot meals. he sits in the corner chair, unbuckling his sword belt and taking off his boots as you comb the day-long travel from your hair.
valarr sighs, sinking down in the chair, legs spreading, head falling back. you watch his throat and chest work as he breathes slow and heavy.

"poor matarys," you reply, turning to look back at valarr. "he loved that little dog."
he sighs again, pushing himself from the chair. fingers hook into the buttons down the side of his doublet — thick fabric, double lined, dark red. he unclasps them, discarding the expensive item onto the floor. "your sweet heart is enduring," he says, mismatched eyes meeting yours. valarr drops back onto the bed, patting the spot beside him as he lounges against the pillows, "come here."
you listen, standing and making your way to the bed. "you may disagree with my sensibilities, they're out of my control," you defend, collapsing next to him. you're bone tired, too caught up in the hunt for the pup that you hadn't realized until this very moment.
valarr's hand meets the shoulder that presses into his hand, sliding his hand across the plane of your back to find your opposite arm, drawing you into him. "i do not wish for you to change," he says gently, voice dropping into that soft, intimate tone that he saves for you. he leans down, pressing his lips to your forehead. "your sensitivity is my northern star — i would be remiss to wish you otherwise."
his thumb rubs soothing circles into the edge of your collarbone. you close your eyes, nosing against the crook of his neck. sandalwood and lemon balm.
"i am sorry if i seemed cross with you," he whispers, slipping further into the bed. he's careful in extracting the quilt from beneath the both of you, tugging it up and over your body. "i love you, i am not cross," he continues, stroking your hair. he smooths his hand over your head, thumbing your hairline.

As his mother's heir, Jace knew he was little more than a pawn to be moved around a board, a pawn made to enter into matches and alliances. His entire life, he had known his mother would choose his wife, and he would have little say in who that may be. His wife had been decided scarcely before he truly knew what marriage meant. Alliances were built around him before he could even walk, but when war broke out, everything changed. The betrothal brokered between himself and Baela broke, and he was left traversing the realm, reminding lords and ladies of their oaths. Given his first taste of power and the opportunity to prove himself. And he did, he had houses pledging loyalty, support, and men. And then he arrived in Winterfell, and found himself leaving with more than the pledge of men and support, but with you as his wife.

Like be real, nobody gets punished in this show, people be breaking laws and rules left, right and centre without any consequences. Yet the only time I ever see outrage about the lack of punishment is when it comes to Luke. So what the law only matters when it comes to the 8 year old?

TG murdered the lords who didn’t betray the crown, crowned a usurper, murdered Rhaenyra’s son (the heir to Driftmark), murdered more lords and their men, tried to kill her, and then burned the entire city. How could Rhaenyra spare their lives now?
Aegon II the Usurper can’t be left alive, because even if they forced the crown on his head, he was still crowned. Even if they forced him to bend the knee now, while he's maimed, there's no guarantee he won't rebel when he's healed. Sentencing him to death for usurpation is the only way out.
Aemond the Kinslayer can't be allowed to live, because he not only murdered the son of the rightful heir, but he also murdered an entire city with his own hands. (And then he'll murder more.) Aemond, who tried to kill his own brother, should be allowed to live?
Daeron. Rhaenyra doesn't know that, but we do - a little war psychopath 2.0 who will murder an entire city in revenge. Even if she doesn't, she must assume that after murdering his older brothers, Daeron will be a threat. The only way out of peace is to sentence him to death.

TG had a chance at life and they had a chance at peace. If Alicent hadn't sent her sons to war (where she later abandoned them…) no one would have passed sentence on them.
Yes, Rhaenyra will die in the end. But Aegon, Aemond, Daeron and even Helaena will die as well. Because Alicent and Otto sent them to a war that didn't have to be.
