I made another ask but I had some problems sending it. I wanted to ask your opinion on the video clip of l'Assymphonie and on the choice to show Salieri basically watching Mozart and Stanzie making out, I can understand the reference to the line curses all those who love each other. But in my opinion it seems that Salieri is jealous of Mozart? of Stanzie? of both? Curious to know your opinion.
Hi, don't worry I've read your ask but I haven't got round to answering yet.
When I first watched the l'Assasymphonie MV I wasn't full aware of the whole MOR story, so out of context I thought that Salieri is jealous because they love each other and he can't deal with it seeing Mozart being happy with his career AND his love life. And it's as if that's what completely destroys him. That he has nothing and Mozart has everything.
But yeah, it looks really gay because the clip starts with Mozart leaning at a tree, all giggling and smiling and that is what Salieri observes. Constanze just joins him later and Salieri sees them together by mistake. No one would think that Salieri somehow cares about Constanze. (Sorry to all the 2 rare-shippers out there)
I believe that Salieri stalks Mozart all the time, no matter where he is and what he does. It's the same in the Tatoue-moi MV, he follows him to the party and even in the garden when Mozart meets his father and sister. It's basically the official lore of the MOR MV that Salieri always observes Mozart. xD
I personally think that we are not supposed to find extra meaningful content in the music videos. No, I have the impression that they wanted to produce something artsy and sexy. I'm not joking here, often times their desicions don't even make sense. Like... Le bien qui fait mal... what is that? How do you explain that Salieri is suddenly interested in Aloysia? Or that Aloysia and Nannerl act like they would make out any moment? And Tatoue-moi? At this point of the story Salieri and Mozart don't even know each other. But Salieri is in the MV anyway.
And this is not just about the MVs. Look at one of Florents recent l'assasymphonie performances. Half-naked men and women are dancing around him, they are touching his whole body, everything is very sexual. And then you see a giant stripper like sexy dancer shape in the background. But the song is about... suicidal thoughts??? It seems like no one remembers (or cares) what the song is actually about.
Apparently that's how it was back then, when this absoulutely child-friendly musical advertised on the Disney Channel. I also heard something about kids singing MOR songs? Really, the French are fascinating people. :)
Ok, so my last thought is: The production team decided to show us Salieri watching Mozart and Constanze because it would look... not gay? ... in their opinion? You know what I mean? Like they really try hard to present Salieri as a heterosexual man in the music videos, even if it's doesn't make sense and is absoulety irrevelant for the MOR plot. But... you know... no homo.
And it's so funny because the interpretation is so different. We see it clearly with our own eyes what Salieri's desire is, but the production team wanted us to interpret Salieris behaviour like this: 'Oh no, Mozart again. I hate this man. Great, now he is making out with his girlfriend. Where is my heterosexual love interest? :('
