Stacy Martin at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2021 Preview Party at Royal Academy of Arts on September 14, 2021 in London, England
New photoshoot and interview due to the new film called "I Love Greece".
In addition to Stacy, the director Nafsika Guerry-Karamaounas also participated in the photoshoot in Athens, in Alexander's Cigar Lounge.
In the film, everything begins with the fact that a married couple, played by Stacy Martin and Vincent Dedienne, together with his wife's Greek relatives, arrive on the island of the Aegean Sea for a family vacation. And they, however, are suddenly shocked by the need for a radical existential search. The beginning path of self-knowledge leads the two partners to unprecedented trials.
âWe have a great Greek team, and the colleagues we play with are not inferior in quality. The presence of Greek actors is very important in the film, because it largely concerns the issue of national identity. Greece has always piqued my curiosity, and in recent years I have watched with interest the flourishing of Greek cinema,â Martin begins to admit, giving me a great opportunity to ask if this interest prompted her to recently post on her Instagram a shot of the great "Shepherds" of Nikos Papatakis. âThis particular film was among the titles that Nafsika suggested to us as a guide. I confess that I do not understand new releases at all, I do not know all of them and, in general, I do not always like them. But "Shepherds" seemed amazing to me, because although it is an old film, I felt like it came out today. The last shot is not just unthinkable, it awakened in me the desire to star in the film."
Nafsika Guerry-Karamaounas makes a bold choice and includes complex monoplanes, although "I Love Greece" is her debut. âWith the help of monoplanes, you can highlight details in frames and subtle movements of people. Thus, in the interpretations of the main characters, there are several restrained gestures endowed with special power,â the author emphasizes in fluent Greek. But what brought her to our country, besides his roots? âI feel very alive in Greece. I travel to Serifos every year because of my mother, who fell in love with the island forty years ago without being from there.. This is one of the reasons why I chose her to play Stacy's mother in the film. The cast is, of course, overflowing with talent, which is a rare luxury for a director. I definitely wanted Martin to play this role, because she also has a different background, and she could perfectly give the feeling that she has no homeland anywhere. And Bensang was able to happily embody the most dramatic moments, as well as the irony of his character. But also the Greek actors, I must say, are great and I love them very much and I am proud of them."
Before we leave, I ask Stacy one last question: what do you think is happening to people that at times they just have a bad time. âVacations can be unbearably stressful. But, as in the film, in a crisis situation it is important not to forget about the good that others can give us."
