Nyarlathotep is a being that has a near infinite list of identities it can take, and not a single one of them is the true form of the greater being. Nyarlathotep isn’t even really its name. It exists in all fandoms in all manner of shape as some manner of chaotic force. Be that positive, or negative.

Webbing scattered the floor, tiles upon tiles of fine marble with the loose silken threading haphazardly sprayed about. A beast, concocted to lure a hunter in. Trailing the lined up great hall of pews to the large figure that sat hunched over the ivory keys of a pipe organ that had long since been part of this buildings architecture.

Long spindly fingers that were just as at home stringing along the curved strands when prey approaches dance upon the teeth of the mighty instrument. While the motion is erratic, inhuman, the sound that comes is so deceptively haunting. A melodic sound, hummed out by the bellows of ancient pipes, of strung together notes never uttered together in the world of man.

A grin peppers across untempered features of the hunched figure as like any good spider, it makes note when a presence steps foot upon a web so carefully woven. The first step was the alert, the attention of trillions of 'demonic' eyes that lingered in the shadow as they armed themselves at the funnel. The second step sees the music stop for a beat. Lurched shape straightens out, a cacophony of pops and snapping of rigid old bones crackling into place singing to the air in the pause of music.

Then the playing continues as it never had taken the gentle pause. A sing song laugh beckons the hunter into the funnel of this grand hall, where so many poor and 'innocent' were strung up and wound tightly into delightful little cocoons, waiting to be drained and desiccated. Not a predator. The predator. The primal thing at the furthest reaches of the human mind, lurking in that empty space we ignored thinking it was vacant.

the kind of shit nyarlathotep pulls is making deals with people and then they think what it wants is more worshippers and a great church, and to have sway over someone in a seat of power, but in reality it's just going for the ending of ready or not where all of that backfires

In the vastness of space, many look upon the inky black void and do not think to understand what it truly represents. The decay of light, the death of even photons failing to travel through nothingness. Cold. Empty. Lonely. Hungry. A void, like the one that rumbled in the belly of the devourer, a black and icy winter that swept its winds about inside with no relief, a need so intense it would cause lesser beings to claw out their own insides just to be rid of it for even a moment. Yet Galan of Taa endured, to being the hated force and representative of entropy.

So, in this enduring ever shifting chasm of reality, did he hear the screams of all those he destroyed? Every life no matter how infinitesimal, screaming out in agony as their world is swallowed by such a voracious force. The last world, a paltry little planet in the middle of no particular galaxy, remains all but dust scattered to the wind as the devourer of worlds stood in his pyrrhic triumph in consuming their home.

All that remains among the obscure miasma of ash and death is a singular stone, cut in such odd ways, sparkling and gleaming with light refracted from the nearby sun. Crimson and emerald flecks sparkle within as the stone, no bigger than the head of a normal man, rockets into the goliath figure. To him it would feel as no more than a gentle bump, but given his gravity, it begins to orbit him. Giving forth its faint unseemly hiss even in the soundless void of space, crackling with terrible noise as it absorbs more light to its surface.

like, they're one of the perfect creatures to represent primal fear and the 'wrong-ness' of things. They're both so alien and natural and I've gotten this appreciation for them over the years despite my arachnaphobia.
