Brian is a quadruple texter. He’s got the autistic urge to over explain himself and then apologize for it.
What flavor is your soul?

"I'm sorry." Brian responds quickly, his voice as rigid and straight as his spine. He can't quite tell if Mark is serious about the accusation, but he doesn't particularly care. The bristling anxiety needling at his insides demands that he give an explanation.
"It's just that, well, I'm not really sure what to do." The professor sighs, raising a twitchy hand to comb through his hair. "To be completely honest with you, I've never woken up in anyone else's bed before, especially not another man's. You're my first, you know." Briefly, he wonders if Mark feels satisfied or proud of that fact, but he doesn't vocalize it. Instead, he turns to the other man and shrugs his shoulders.
"Breakfast sounds nice, if you don't mind me staying. "

I’ve been watching Castlevania and unhhhhhh who wants to go kill vampires with Basil
I wouldn’t say that Brian feels unlovable, but he does feel like there is something so abhorrently wrong with him that it repulses everyone around him.
Hey do y'all mind if I make a naughty Bas post
Now was obviously not the time to mention that she'd met Napoleon, in Paris during the brief respite between his wars. Aside from the immediate, it was one of those matters that would tangle the age Basil believed her to be.
"It ... happens like that." She offered instead, looking down at her shoes - or rather where they ought to be under the hem of her skirts. "Once survival instinct gets into your blood, it doesn't listen to logic anymore." A pause, then, "If you'd like me to pretend a headache so we can leave, just let me know."
With a shake of his head, Basil did his best to politely decline her offer. "Thank you, but I just need a few moments to gather myself... though I do appreciate your willingness to fib for my sake. You just let me know if there is ever a way I can repay the favor." He responded, giving Thera a small smile.
"It's just..." As he began again, Basil's arms folded across his chest. It was difficult for him to speak so candidly, but he felt as Thera's worry was owed an explanation. "Well, I am somewhat known within his Majesty's ranks for cannon fire. My regiment once captured an artillery troop and turned their guns against their own cavalry. So, I suppose, it makes me feel a fool to be startled by a bloody champagne cork because it reminds me of those days."
hey chat did I tell you guys that an old man came into my place of work with a sword on his belt the other day

“i don't think you realize how much people notice you.”
“you don't seem particularly trusting. then again, maybe neither am i.”
“you have a habit of appearing at interesting moments.”
“you strike me as someone who trusts their gut. am i wrong?”
“i've noticed you always leave before everyone else.”
“i think you enjoy keeping people guessing.”
“you seem restless.”
“it's strange how you can be surrounded by people and still feel alone.”
“have i ever told you that you're difficult to read?”
“you look like you haven't slept.”
“you know this place well enough that i'm starting to wonder if you've always lived here.”
“do you ever worry about the kind of person you're becoming?”
“i've known a lot of people. none of them were quite like you.”
“i can't decide whether people truly change, or if they just become better at hiding parts of themselves.”
“i had the strangest dream last night. do you remember yours when you wake up?”
“the more i get to know you, the more i keep noticing little similarities between the two of us.”
“i didn't realize you'd remember that.”
“most people seem uncomfortable with silence. i never minded it much.”
“you seem to know more than you're saying.”
“you seem comfortable on your own. i wonder if that's the same thing as never feeling lonely.”
“do you always look this serious?”
“you're easier to talk to than i expected.”
“i've always thought trust is harder to earn than people pretend.”
“you always seem to be watching.”
“i think you've been avoiding me.”
“you're not at all what i thought you would be.”
“whenever i ignore my instincts, i end up regretting it. what about you?”
“i wasn't expecting to run into you again.”
“i can't tell if you're someone who enjoys solitude or just tolerates it.”
“i know it sounds childish, but i can't help believing some people are meant to find one another.”
“you make a terrible liar.”
“you don't strike me as the sort of person people forget.”
“i think people underestimate you.”
“i can't decide whether you're charming or frustrating.”
“i don't think i've seen you smile before.”
“i wasn't sure you'd come.”
“it's a little strange. i think i've started looking forward to seeing you.”
“sometimes i wonder if we ever really know anyone.”
“you're surprisingly good company.”
“i think most people would like to believe they're good. i'm not sure it's always that simple.”
“i think being truly understood is a far rarer thing than people realize.”
“i don't usually tell people this...”
“you make that look easy.”
He had expected a quip to brush it off, but what he'd seen had gotten under his skin, so he needed to ask regardless. He just hadn't thought the major might actually oblige. The unexpected honesty warmed him; he smiled fleetingly even in the face of such horrors that he didn't know enough to name.
Seeing the man's face though, grim and set, he was at least inclined to listen. Still... what in heaven's name could he be about to hear? Lord Debling inched closer; fear of the unknown was plenty of motivation to stick by his side... if he needed another besides appreciating his company.
"Major Ashford..." A pause for reconsideration, then— "Basil, I assure you I felt it also. I know nature well, even at its rawest and most brutal. Whatever this is lurking in the shadows, it is nothing I have seen before." Another stretch of quiet that nerves insisted on filling. "Are you familiar?"
While Basil did not take any pleasure from knowing that Lord Debling had felt the same disquieting sense of oddity creeping through the streets of London, he did feel an immediate and apparent sense of relief. To know that he was neither alone nor insane was significant. The tensity held within his chest abated, and he was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
After a moment of his own consideration, the Major nodded his head. "I am not entirely unfamiliar." He responded, his age-weathered hands reaching outwards to gently take hold of Alfred's own. Privacy and vulnurability embolded him, and he couldn't help but be honest with both his words and his affections.
"Not with this, not with whatever lurks here, but.. this is not the first abberation I've encountered. When I was somewhere near you in age, I'd spent a brief period of time stationed in America - New York, to be exact. The outpost was small and vestigial, a remnant from the War and neglected as all but a punishment. And again, I worry you may think me mad, but in that desolate forest, our regiment encountered what I believe to have been a demon, born on Earth but cursed to Hell."
Thera turned her head to look at him, a shadow in her eyes, and gave a single small nod. "I hear them sometimes, too." Not often anymore, and not while she was awake; only in sleep, where the memories masqueraded as dreams. A pause, for a few seconds, her gaze quiet and voice more so, "Are you going to be alright?"
Embarassment flushed hotly beneath the major's skin, coloring his cheeks with a shade of scarlet not too dissimilar from that of his dress coat. Basil knew that he needn't feel such shame in the presence of a dear friend, but a lifetime of societal expectation and service told him that he should. It felt as if he'd submitted entirely to a pathetic weakness.
"I will be." Basil responded after a moment of silence. "If I can prepare myself for the shock, it doesn't bother me. But when I am caught off guard, it feels as if I'm still... cowering behind cover while Napoleon rains hellfire upon me."
PROMPTS FOR THE MORNING AFTER * adjust as necessary, nsfw implied
this... isn't my bed.
i'll make us breakfast.
wait, how long have you been here?
did you stay the night?
you're so beautiful like this.
did i give you that hickey?
don't get up. stay right here.
kiss me again.
nice bedhead.
are you... wearing anything?
this was a bad idea.
i've wanted to do that forever.
did you enjoy it?
i did a number on your back. sorry about that.
is this your shirt?
maybe you should go.
i had a great time.
if you stay, i'll make us coffee.
i shouldn't have stayed over.
come back here. please?
i've never been like that with anyone before.
there's a bra on the ceiling fan.
did we... actually...?
we could do it again, if you want.
you made me feel... incredible.
was it... okay?
you look beautiful in my bed.
what do you remember?
was i too loud?
you can borrow my shirt.
i guess this makes us more than friends.
this can't be happening.
i could spend the day just like this, right here with you.
is that a hickey?
this was just for fun. it doesn't mean we're together.
this wasn't supposed to happen.
should we talk about it?
what time is it? i'm late for work.
how long have you been awake?
i remember... everything.
we should do that again sometime.
i think we cuddled.
that was the best night of my life.
what parts do you remember?
why don't you stay for breakfast?
was it good for you?
the sex was great.
how do you like your eggs?
are we still friends?
sorry, i've got morning breath.
i'd really like to keep seeing you.
i'm glad i invited you in.
finally... fucking finally.
please don't leave the bed.
don't make fun of me if i walk funny.
this doesn't mean anything.
my friends are never going to believe this.
i don't even know who i was last night.
no one's ever taken care of me like that.
let me help you clean up.
maybe we should forget this even happened.
i'm just going to... leave.
you said some wild things last night.
you're wearing my shirt.
maybe we could make this a regular thing.
am i blushing? i'm blushing, aren't i.
where did i put my glasses?
your clothes are in the living room.
i need a shower.
your hair's a mess.
you make a great pillow.
i thought we agreed this would ruin our relationship.
did i do something wrong?
we were pretty loud.
do you want me to leave?
i asked you to stay the night.
i bet your neighbors hate us.
stay like this.
well, that's one way to bounce back.
what about round two?
don't let go of me.
why don't you join me in the shower?
we can't keep doing this.
we're fucked, aren't we.
how long have i been asleep?
i tried to keep feelings out of this. i really did.
