Hypnovember Day 3 - Pet, or:
"How petplay hypnosis helped me understand the appeal of dominating someone."
I am a sub through and through, submissive and subject. The appeal to me of hypnosis, or of any sort of power exchange in kink, lies fully in the ability to let go, to surrender to someone or something else. Whether that means following suggestions, obeying commands, or simply being so fully immersed in an experience that the rest of the world is forgotten. I enjoy trance immensely, for its own sake, with or without the eroticism often attached to it. For a long, long time, I didn't understand why someone would choose to stay awake and do the work of thinking for two when being entranced felt so, so much better. In kink dynamics, I didn't fully, empathically understand why someone would choose to be dominant when it felt so good to submit.
I've tried being on the other side of that dynamic a handful of times, switching with people and teasing or degrading them, sadistically so at times. It felt like a misplaced outlet for my sexual frustration more than anything that I actually wanted, though. It thrilled, but it didn't satisfy. I was performing dominance in the hopes that the other person would pay me back in kind when it was their turn. I didn't have any real understanding of what true doms get out of it.
Even once my owner and I had been together for a while, each of us firmly occupying our respective roles, I didn't really understand what appealed to him about controlling me, as much as I relished being under his spell. I often felt like he as the dominant was getting the short end of the stick, taking the burden of thought and decision making while I was blissed out on the pleasure he programmed into me night after night. Long distance, it was hard to reciprocate in a way that made sense to me. If we were in person, I could fall to my knees and service him, let him use me, or perform tasks for him that were objectively beneficial. Over a call, he could only see and hear the effect he had on me, watch with calm composure while I unraveled for him. He's assured me that he thoroughly enjoys the way he plays with me, and while it still didn't make sense to me back then, I was–of course–helpless but to believe him. (Or, in less sexy terms, I trust him to communicate if he's actually unsatisfied.)
It wasn't until we started engaging in occasional pet play that some of the appeal for his emotionally gentler style of dominance really clicked for me. I am first and foremost his toy, an animate object, but occasionally becoming his pet, hearing the affection in his voice when he talks down to me and calls me a good boy, made me realize that there's a much simpler way to understand why someone might want to own and control someone the way he does me.
Setting kink aside, actual pet ownership is an act of love. Perhaps your pet dog or cat doesn't offer any material benefit in exchange for you taking care of it, but it still brings you joy to know this creature depends on you and you're able to keep it comfortable and happy. Pets offer companionship and unconditional love, and they're goddamn cute and funny to watch to boot.
Translating those ideas into kink... Caretaking, companionship, unconditional love, watching something you love be silly and stupid and endearing? That makes a lot more sense to me, and helps put the rest of the weird sexy stuff my owner and I get up to into a clearer context. You teach a pet more complex tricks not because it helps you in any material sense but because it's a fun and rewarding way to spend time together. Brainwashing a person into a toy is training a stray dog into a loyal pet is telling someone you love that you're capable of and willing to care for them.
Even if I vastly prefer being the one being trained and following commands, I get why someone might want to be on the other side of that dynamic now. I don't need to worry that I'm getting more out of our relationship than my owner is just because the needs we're fulfilling for each other are different. As amazing as he makes me feel, I know the power of being able to do that to and for me is gratifying to him. And, not to toot my own horn, but I do make some really cute noises and faces when he's playing with me.

its owner started experimenting with some memory play suggestions in our last session. it hasn't had much success with hypnotic amnesia in the past. the cliche instructions to "remember to forget" never had much sticking power. but its owner figuerd out a different way to block off bits of its mind. its trung to explain what he did but it keeps slipping, can;t think . sorry it s it doesn't think it can ezplain anymore. but it feels good
