But that doesnāt mean Iām your enemy.
Trinity.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā superman? Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā the alien. itās what theyāre calling him.
Damn you both tbh
Superman/Batman Vol. 2, Jeff Loeb
And Iām quiet, all despite the raging in my head.
Hands Like Houses, āWeightā (via wnq-music)
Ā Ā Ā ( Donāt judge me - go eat your corn. )
Ā Ā Heās not judging you, Bruce. Heās just concerned. Thatās different - it comes from a place of care.
Ā Ā (Heās been talking to Alfred.)
@ mel: please do & i will love you forever
@ ronnie: fight me
me: i know nothing about DC aside from the films
also me: i should play clark kent
humblystark:
āDonāt worry. I have plenty of time to disappoint you.ā
āThat was a joke, by the way. Although, Iām pretty sure I am a disappointment to Bruce Wayne. I think most people are a disappointment to him.ā Probably not you.Ā
āIāve got to be honest. Things on my team are rocky right now.ā As in he doesnāt even know where Steve is.Ā āBut if thereās an emergency, and you need us, weāll be there. Iāll make it happen. You have my word.ā
Ā Ā āI wouldnāt take Bruceās estimation of you personally,ā Clark says, lips twitching into a brief, fond smile.Ā āHeās hard on everyone.ā Himself most of all, Clark thinks, but keeps that to himself.Ā
Ā Ā It makes him wonder what it was like to be someone like Bruce, to be someone like Tony; theyād both gotten into the game early, had to do things on their own for a while before anyone else showed up to lend a hand. Even when there were more of them, even when they made a team, itās difficult to say if that was an improvement or not.
Ā Ā Therein lies the struggle, the real fearĀ inherent in what they do: are they hurting more than they help? Should he have listened to his father, kept his abilities to himself, not interfered?
Ā Ā Itās too late to think like that now, but sometimes he wonders. He knows thereās no going back, not for any of them -- that they can only move forward and do the best with what they have. Still, sometimes he wonders if heās doing the right thing.
Ā Ā Itās nice to have other people to consult with, people who have done this longer and who understand the enormity of their decisions.
Ā Ā āThe same goes for me,ā he says quietly, steadily, his brow pinched.Ā āThis is bigger than just Metropolis, just Gotham, just New York. We have to look out for each other when we can. I donāt have a team to offer you, either,ā he adds, mouth twisting.Ā āBut I know a good man and a good woman who stepped up when I needed them, and I know theyād do the same no matter where the danger was.ā
Ā Ā Itās not a team, and he doesnāt know if it ever will be -- if he and the others will ever be more than unsteady allies when it is required of them -- but he doesĀ know that whatever their differences are, they can be put aside for the greater good.
Ā Ā He wonders if the same is true for Tonyās team, or if theyāll remain fractured.

The strenuous sound of metal collapsing made impossible to hear what it was going on. Ā Steve knew it was risky. Yet, he was not willing to let anyone behind. According to what he was told, there was a man left inside the structure. They told him he stayed there to save others. He felt even more obligated to go and rescue him even though it was not safe.
He moved through the inferno quickly trying to spot him. He saw him a few feet away from the spot he was. At first, he thought it was an optic illusion. There was no way the man would be in flames and his skin would be intact. When he got closer, he realized his mind was not playing tricks on him. The man was actually burning as bright as a star itself.
āGo, go, go!ā Ā He said as he saw everything was falling down. There was no time for questions or introductions. He didnāt know the magnitude of the manās powers. Yet, he decided not to take unnecessary risks. Ā He had found the man he was looking for. Now, they had to escape before everything exploded.
āJump!ā Ā Steve commanded as he approached the edge of the platform. He didnāt hesitate twice before jumping into the water. He didnāt worry about the impact. By now, he was more than used to jump without parachute. What he worried was the wave explosion and the metals that would be sent flying everywhere.
Ā Ā There isnāt time to think about the heat rolling across his skin, burning without actually burning, scorching without leaving a mark. Thereās never time, not in a situation like this; what feels like hours spent with smoke flooding his lungs is little more than minutes, precious and fleeting as fire belches into the sky and people are lost.
Ā Ā Not today, he thinks, eyes watering as he makes one last sweep of the oil rig, takes one last chance on finding someone else alive. (Donāt get involvedĀ is coiled at the back of his mind, drawn up tight and ready to strike, ready to remind him of every lesson he railed against as a child.
Ā Ā How can I not? he thinks, and buries the voice beneath the howl of the wind and fire around him.)
Ā Ā But there is another survivor, just one more, and it registers through the cacophony of noise that the man is telling him to go, telling him to jump -- and Clark does, because he knows thereās no one else to save, here, no one else to carry out.
Ā Ā The water hits him like an icy fist, the contrast against his superheated skin nearly knocking the wind out of him. His arms spread wide, bubbles streaming on his exhale as he twists and tries to find the source of the voice. They need to get out of here, and if that oil rig blows, he doesnāt want either of them to be caught in the crossfire. Catching sight of blond hair and splayed limbs, Clark begins to cut through the water toward the other person, one arm outstretched so that when they collide, he can tuck them up against his side and keep swimming.
humblystark:
Theyāre in agreement about Bruce Wayne, so this is already going swimmingly.
He waves off the compliment. Some of his best work in terms of impact has been in the medical tech field. It hasnāt gotten much press, and thatās by design. Developing this stuff is the leastĀ he can do. He doesnāt need the world to praise to him for it.
(He doesnāt mind it coming from Clark, though.)
āWell, I wasnāt going to pass up an opportunity to have a drink with you. Which, by the way, youāre way less of a dick than I anticipated. No offense. I assumed Iād be impressed, but I also assumed youād be a giant stick in the mud. So congratulations. I guess Iām the dick in this scenario.āĀ
Heās got to stop making people out to be worse than they really are just so he can avoid disappointment.
Heās also got to stop talking.
Ā Ā One slow blink later, Clark canāt help the laugh, short and startled. Heās heard a lot about Tony Stark -- who hasnāt, honestly? -- some of it good, some of it bad, some of it worse. Reading about a person doesnāt quite compare to speaking to them face-to-face, though, and no amount of interviews you watch can really tell you much about what a personās reallyĀ like.
Ā Ā He ought to know that already; heās a reporter. But thereās something friendlyĀ about Tony that doesnāt come across in the few press clips he and his mom had watched in her living room, brief sound clips of Tony Stark and then Iron man as he rose to fame, then infamy, then back to fame again.Ā
Ā Ā Then again, Clarkās a different person on the other side of a microphone, too.
Ā Ā āYou know, Iām not sure if I should be apologizing right now or not.ā
Ā Ā He turns to fall into step with Tony, hands in his pockets, shoulders loose. In all honesty, this whole liaising between superhero teams thing isnāt really something heās comfortable with, and not just for the fact that he doesnāt have a team so much as a tenuous alliance with Batman and Wonder Woman.Ā
Ā Ā Clarkās really not that great at managing people, and Tony Starkās spent his whole life dancing circles around them. Even the skills heās managed to cobble together while working for the Daily Planet wonāt do a thing for him in conversation here; best to just be genuine, straightforward, and hope for the best.
Ā Ā āI guess Iām not used to people having expectations at all, not yet. Well, that, and my motherād have my hide if I wasnāt at least polite,ā he adds, smiling faintly.Ā āAnd for the record, so far, youāre not that bad.ā
knightmared:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āā āĀ āā Ā Ā he looks like thereās a statement on the tip of his tongue, holding something back. and heās always calculating what he says - how much he gives away and what consequences heās willing to be dealt with.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā with Clark ā Itās easier to say what would otherwise be harder with anyone else, but it takes longer to say it.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āā I hope it doesnāt either.Ā āā Ā Ā Next time, that decision wonāt be so easy to make.
Ā Ā Thereās a half second pause between Bruceās admission and Clarkās reaction, but his smile isnāt any duller for it; if anything, heās pleasantly, thoroughly surprised, and the look softens the lines of his face, wipes away some of the solemnity that recent events have put on it.
Ā Ā āIāve got a good feeling,ā he says, smile warming his voice.Ā āWe both want the same thing, so that makes it easier.ā
Ā Ā Once youāve seen eye-to-eye with someone, his mother liked to tell him, itās a lot harder to find it in you to blacken it.Ā
Ā Ā Thinking of her brings him a rush of guilt, of shame, and he buries that in favor of the conversation at hand. (If thereās one thing Clark had learned to do well as a child, it was swallowing up his feelings -- a necessity, lest they swallow himĀ whole.)
Ā Ā āNot easy, mind you. But easier.ā
humblystark:
āThe one and only. Call me Tony.ā
Heās just as impressive in person as he is on TV. Tall, dark, and handsome; strong-jawed bustinā out of his button down. Surprisingly not imposing, not that he couldnāt be if he wanted to, Tonyās sure. Heās the kind of guy youād want to grab a beer with.
āDonāt listen to anything Wayne tells you about me.ā
Ā Ā āAs long as you donāt listen to anything he tells you about me,ā Clark returns, faint amusement coloring his tone as he offers his hand for a brisk, gentle shake.
Ā Ā (Well. Gentle on his part.)
Ā Ā āClark Kent, Daily Planet.ā
Ā Ā And a man like Tony Stark is probably perfectly aware of who else he is, but the elephant in the room can be left unannounced, canāt it?
Ā Ā āItās a pleasure.ā And it is, honestly.Ā āA coworker of mine did a piece on the program you just rolled out for the vets -- nothingĀ tops a Stark prosthetic. But you know that,ā he adds, ducking his head with a small, huffed laugh.Ā āAnd Iām not on the clock right now.ā
Ā Ā Well. Not as Clark, anyway.
Ā Ā āThanks for agreeing to see me, Tony.āĀ
humblystark:
what is it with aliens and capes?
Ā Ā āI donāt think capes are a uniquely alien accessory.ā
Ā Ā Iām not an alien smacks into the backs of his teeth, rattles around in his mouth and is forced back behind a patient, pleasant smile. Iām a farm boy from KansasĀ dies in his throat, not quite a lie but not the whole truth either, anymore.
Ā Ā He inhales, exhales, and settles his weight evenly on both feet.
Ā Ā āMr. Stark, isnāt it?ā
humblystark:
he likes ur tight outfit and your belief in mankind
thanks, he thinks.........
knightmared:
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āā Iād fight you again - in a heartbeat.Ā āāĀ
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā and his voice is ā well ā you canāt really tell.
Ā thereās an undertone that heās teasing back - ā¦. but he means what he said.Ā
Ā Ā āKnowing that actually makes me feel better,ā he admits, posture as relaxed as ever.Ā
Ā Ā And itās true, too -- if thereās anyone out there who can stand toe-to-toe with him, who can make that call and stand up to him when itās needed -- he knows itās Bruce. They can balance each other ,he thinks , or they can atl east try.
Ā Ā Itās a new concept for him, but a welcome one. (This whole business is a lot less lonely, a lot less daunting, knowing there are people like Bruce and Wonder Woman out there with him.)
Ā Ā āBut between you and me, I hope it doesnāt come to that.ā
