We had been planning a grassroots mass contact campaign against religious extremism for many months now. With the recent incident we have decided to name it the Amjad Sabri Campaign Against Intolerance.
As you know Laal has done many such campaigns before. We don’t need much to start such campaigns. All I need is my guitar and a friendly ear to hear our words. We have in the past and are ready to perform at every street corner, every village, every conference, and every stage.
Our first performance will be on July 9th at Yuhanabad. More details will be coming soon.
I have gotten in touch with my Mazdoor Kissan Party, All Pakistan Trade Union, Anjuman Muzareen comrades and civil society members. We already have a massive network of supporters who are setting up venues where we will be performing. Still we need to widen our campaign.
Help us reach a wider audience. Invite us to your community, school, university or institution. Help us cover our minimum costs so we can make this campaign financially sustainable. If you can’t organise an event, send us your donations.
Such campaigns need your financial support. They cannot run otherwise. Laal is one of Pakistan’s most potent cultural group organised against extremism. Help us fight extremism in Pakistan.
Laal Salam! Dr. Taimur Rahman
To help Laal financially, you can make a contribution to the Laal Trust (a Trust set up by Laal members to gather donations for our campaigns). All contributors will be provided a 3 monthly report on all money that has gone in and out. The bank account details are as follows:

Zia Imran adds on Facebook: The two people who really worked hard to make it happen are Syed Ahmad Chairman PASHA and Jehan Ara President PASHA with tons of support from the industry leaders. Thank You.

Ahmedis: Pakistan Mazdoor Kissan Party Condemns Statement by Raja Pervez Ashraf. Pakistan Mazdoor Kisan Party (MKP) condemns the recent statement of former Prime Minister of Pakistan and senior Peoples Party Pakistan (PPP) leader Raja Pervez Ashraf in which, while addressing a public rally in Kotli (Azad Kashmir), he boasts of "shutting up, breaking the neck and burying the problem of Qadianis (a derogatory term for Ahmedis)". Such statements are a glorification of state-sanctioned repression. We believe the second amendment to the constitution of Pakistan that was passed in 1974 by the then government of PPP led by Z.A. Bhutto (referred to as service of Islam in the aforementioned statement) to be against the basic, individual right of self-identification. The state cannot and should not decide who is true Muslim and who is not, and should recognise all its citizens without any distinction. PPP should rather be apologising for their role in creating an apartheid that was fully affected in 1984 by the military dictator Zia-ul Haq under the ordinance XX which placed further restrictions on Ahmedis and even criminalised it for them to "pose as Muslims"- punishable with a sentence of up to three years in prison. The religious intolerance in general and the state-sponsored oppression in particular made Ahmedis one of the most persecuted communities of Pakistan, devoid of religious freedom and a frequent targeted of terrorists and bigoted laws. We demand the state to take all steps necessary to protect the religious freedom of all its citizen and move towards revoking the laws that are discriminatory and against the fundamental human rights. We specially demand PPP to use its strength inside and outside Parliament to undo its historical wrong and mobilise masses towards making Pakistan a place that is tolerant, diverse and progressive.
