there’s a gfm going around rn with about $6.5m raised in support of afghan asylum seekers, which seems great except two minutes of research reveals that the company hosting the fundraiser is a subcontractor for the CIA & the US military. i don’t really have a soapbox to stand on about this specifically, but let me just take the opportunity to say that you need to be researching the owners/organizers before you donate to any particular fundraiser. i don’t care if it has a ton of donations already or your mutual reblogged it or whatever, you need to do the research yourself and decide whether or not the organization actually deserves your money. being informed is more than reading instagram graphics. you have to do the work.
