he was a great performer, and talented singer, but I’d wager he wasn’t creative.

he was a seeker.

He sought out wisdom, ideas, his books were a huge part of his life. He was a man expressive, looking for answers. He wasn’t looking to change things, or innovate.

which is why while in the 50s he was considered radical, it wasn’t out of ‘I want to change music’ it was expression and reaction.

and why later he never collabed with contemporaries. Why critics cast him out, he wasn’t what they wanted him to be
