My barracks is a dumpster fire

Turns out that living in a barracks that also houses the restricted personnel does nothing to curb reckless or endangering behavior. Here's a list of things that happened last week:

A yeoman overdosed on heroin in his room and was discovered by his roommate around 2 in the morning.

Someone set off the fire alarm by vaping in the stairwell.

A guy who went AWOL came back to base and was put under 24hr surveillance; two days later he was caught vaping in his room.

The fire alarm went off at 1 in the morning because someone was vaping in their room. (seriously why is everyone vaping?) Half the barracks had evacuated before anyone realized it wasn't a real fire.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

Test Anxiety

I was reading the suggested methods for handling test anxiety as per Navy instruction, and besides the normal methods of “clench and relax your muscles,” “take deep, rhythmic breaths,” and “get a drink of water or use the head,” my favorite piece of advice was “think ‘I can’t worry about this now. I have a test to take.” 

I know when I’m anxious I just get annoyed with myself and offer a self-scolding.

On to the Next Big Thing

Tomorrow (29May18) I get to start my first C school in my AEGIS FC track. I was hoping to not have to spend another 3 months in Great Lakes, but there are worse things I suppose. I could always be a boatswains mate.
