shawn was in the middle of viewing an extensive collection of books whose titles he wouldn’t begin to pronounce aloud in any form of correctness when he saw from the corner of his eye a woman tumbling towards him. instinct kicked in as he jutted forward and caught her, moving deftly aside to allow the books to tumble to the floor with a collection of loud thuds. “oops,” he muttered before letting her go and allowing her to start cleaning up.

“you’re fine! i mean, unless you meant to actually do it, then if so; bravo, that was smooth.“ he clapped a bit before bending to help her pick the books up. “i’m shawn, shawn spencer - your resident psychic detective, so if you need help finding a lost loved one, a sock of which a dryer ate, or that one good luck charm that good lucked its way out of here; i’m your handsomely coiffed haired man.”

ever the apologist, Sally shook her head and immediately started to apologize again, “I am so sorry, really! I’m usually much better at watching where I’m going and not ramming into people. It’s just... this is a lot, right?”

As she was set on her feet again solidly and of her own volition, she brushed her hair back and regarded Shawn thoughtfully; the idea of a psychic intrigued her, which was odd considering where she’d come from herself, and her own origins felt somewhat strange, but...

Realizing she’d been staring, Sally laughed and offered, “I’m Sally, I’m going to be doing something psych related, but less psychic and more psychology? I don’t know if that’ll be of any use to you, but I am here if you need me~” a tip of her head, from left to right, she added, “I don’t tend to lose things, oddly enough? I mean besides my balance, obviously.”

a shrug draws her shoulders up and she closes her eyes, “I suppose so, it’s just harder to get my head around where I’ve ended up when I volunteered and still somehow felt loss upon waking up? You know?”

He plays with her hair. “We will have a fun time. I’m glad you’re here with me. I keep saying that but I don’t think I could survive without you at all.” He states matter of factly. “I adore you. You’re the most beautiful creature ever to live.”

she snorts, shaking her head, “I think you’re a bit biased, Jack.” 

Her head lays against his shoulder as her hair is played with and she seems almost peaceful in that moment. Her hand slides up to trace a finger against his jaw, then she laughs, “You know, it took us a while to get here, I can’t imagine staying behind when you go somewhere.”

“not really,” lara replied, shrugging her shoulders in response as she looked over at the other woman. “to me, it was… just like starting another adventure. well, maybe it was a little odd at first, but– exciting, more than anything. i spent so much of my life focusing on the mysteries and the myths– and, and the things that had been lost throughout the years– that earth had to offer, and i never thought to think of those for space. i mean, it was a pipe dream back then, i suppose.”  she hadn’t meant to ramble, but it often happened when she felt particularly passionate about something. archaeology – her work – always did that for her. “what about you? you didn’t volunteer?”

donna, as polite as she could be at any give time, offered Lara a smile and listened to her speak; it was hard to remember exactly what her passions were considering how often her life was given to saving the world regardless of how you feel about it. Super Hero was a weird term, and one she eschewed on the best of days, but still it got pinned on her like a corsage by an over-eager date.

“I volunteered, I just haven’t seen any of the people I know and honestly I feel a bit out of sorts. I guess it’s more that it’s harder in practice than it was in theory. I just need to regain my bearings and I’m sure I’ll be fine, it’s just taking more time than I’d like...” She exhales, her words having gotten away from her and leaving her breathless for a moment, before she tips her head, “I’m Donna, by the way.”

“I shouldn’t think it weird but then I dare say it’s likely not every person aboard this fine vessel had a reason behind making such a journey, so I can only, truly speak for myself,” Raoul spoke honestly and kindly to the woman, having noticed the tremor in her words but not thinking well of lying. “I am Raoul, a fellow volunteer,” he added, introducing himself with a well mannered bow to the lady.

far fancier than she was used to; most of her friends responded with playful punches and quips -- sometimes the occasional hug -- but generally more tomfoolery than etiquette. The bow tugged the corner of Donna’s mouth into a half-smirk and she bobbed her head in a nod, “I volunteered, I just feel a bit aimless right now. Perhaps it’s just waking up and not having seen anyone I know yet? I’m usually in control.”

A sigh escapes Donna’s lips, before she blows a puff up to push back her hair and offers a hand out for a shake, “I’m Donna Troy.”

she smiles despite her general discomfort and shrugs, letting her head dip back and peer up at the ceiling even as her hair falls down her back in lengthy, dark chestnut waves, “You know, I volunteered. It just feels a bit unsettling to wake up and have no idea how things are going to be. I like keeping control of my life.”

He smiles. “You’re here now. And we will never be apart again. We are together forever. I am determined. I miss them dearly. I do trust the mayor too, he will take good care of them. I wonder if he knows where we are.” 

He beams at her. She lit up his whole world and made him the happiest man alive…well dead. “You’re my whole world. I love you with my whole heart.”

sometimes she wondered how she’d gotten to this point. In the beginning she’d have never guessed they’d end up married -- let alone perfectly happily so -- but now they stood at the precipice of a new life in a new place; their beginnings were on the horizon.

her head dips to rest against his shoulder and she smiles, “I love you too, Jack. We came a long way, both literally and emotionally, to get to this place. Lets try to make the best of it, yeah?”

“are you regretting your decisions to volunteer ??”

a shake of her head and Donna offers a crooked smile, “I don’t regret it, I’m just trying to get control of where I am. I think it’s just cryo shock, you know? sleep for so long and wake up realizing you’d signed up for something that put you smack-dab outside of your comfort zone?? I’ll be fine once I get a hold of things, I just don’t know many who’d have volunteered outside of my friends.”

After a pause, she bobs her head in a nod, “I suppose I’m going to meet more people like my friends knowing how many of the people here probably volunteered too, and given I offered myself up for combat trainer -- for whatever that might be worth -- and...” as if realizing she was rambling, she stuck her tongue out and shook her arms out, trying to regain her composure, “I’m sorry, i’m Donna Troy, and I’ll be your friend so you don’t feel alone either, yeah?”

she pats his arm to try and help soothe him, then laughs, “I honestly think it might be to avoid conflicts... some people have allergies or maybe they’ll somehow mess with the dynamic of things? Besides, I think I might be more worried if they were here rather than Halloweentown... if something happened to Zero or Nyx I’d never forgive myself! But I trust the Mayor.”

the smile she gives Jack is beyond beatific, and is reserved only for him; she can sometimes be reclusive, but with Jack she always managed to find a part of herself she had long hidden, “I’ve dreamed of you every night since we met, so we’re even...”

“i’m peter, i volunteered too - i thought it would be something different but this isn’t too bad, i’ve been to space before; once, back in the er.. past? yeah, the past - “ he paused and inhaled sharply before letting out a breath, “this is just so beyond any imagination i could ever hope to achieve.“

she pauses for several seconds, then snorts, “I don’t regret it, if you were wondering, I’m just used to a sort of knowledge of what’s coming and control over my life that feels like it flew out the window. Maybe it’s just waking up from cryosleep and not having found any of the others I know for sure volunteered too.”

affecting her most normal expression and trying to quash the butterflies in her stomach that she was not used to -- again, so totally comfortable with being in control that the entire situation seemed off -- and smiles at Peter, “I’m Donna... I’ve never been to space? I don’t think. I don’t remember -- can being in cryo make you lose memories? Crap.”

it’s not truly panic, but she still needs to get her bearings, “How was space for you the first time?”

“no, no, it’s– it’s my fault, i wasn’t paying attention,” carl replied moments after nearly walking into the other, scrambling to help her pick up the books. he hadn’t noticed the cord she’d tripped on, and had been distracted by his phone at the same time she’d tripped. having only one eye and growing up in an apocalypse, you’d think he’d be more cautious when it came to his surroundings, yet here he was. “i’m sorry. are you okay?” he asked, raising a brow. “i’m carl.”

sally, to her credit, didn’t seem at all put off by his patched eye or anything else about Carl’s overall demeanor; she figured everyone on the ship had their own reasons for being here and their own backstories. Given her body was covered in stitched scars that she had once been self-conscious about it felt a little hypocritical to show anyone pity or make them feel awkward about their own flaws, physical or otherwise.

“It’s lovely to meet you, Carl. I’m Sally, Sally Skellington.” She hoisted her books up into her arms with his help and tilted her head slowly, “I think we can both claim some fault on this one, yeah?”

she was smiling the entire time, and soon turned to loop her arm loosely with Jack’s to be led to where they’d be living, offering aside to him, “They wouldn’t let me pop Nyx in either and I miss that cat. So to be honest, I’m glad we found each other so quickly. Are you excited, at least?”

things felt a little one-sided at first awakening, and it wasn’t really Donna’s bag to feel out of control; she fed on being in charge of her own life, and even though she’d volunteered, being there now felt somehow like hurtling through space at a speed that didn’t seem comfortable.

She turned, eyes full of -- at least she hoped -- what looked like wonder and NOT panic, and asked the person nearest to her, “Is it weird to have volunteered to be here?”

before they move, Sally leans up to press a kiss against Jack’s cheek and nods, “I think this will work out well,” a pause, and she asks, “What would you have done had I not ended up here? I know it seems unlikely as we always end up together, but... curiosity gets me sometimes!”

Newt looks around and picks his bowtruckle out of his pocket. “Pickett I don’t know where my wand or my trunk are. I’m freaking out. What is this place?” He frowns when he sees someone and quickly hides Pickett. “Nothing to see here.”

lofting a brow, Donna lets out a small snort. She really should be more used to people shoving what looks to be live things in their pocket, given the team she generally works with, but somehow it seems so juvenile coming from a man like Newt, “Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to tattle... are you all right? You look extremely confused.”
